I guarantee you that the Rams would trade Aaron Donald for a Rogers/Wilson/Mahomes type player right now. Even if they knew a 23 year old Donald would be the HOF player he turned out to be, they'd ship him off. As great and impactfull as Donald is, he is practically irrelevant when it comes to a top 3 QB in today's game.

They would trade him for one of those guys. They have accomplished something. They wouldn't do it for a college kid.

A great defense gives you a better chance at a SB than the misconception of the "FQB" ESPECIALLY after that QB gets paid.

trading Aaron for one of those 3 is EZ... but the question is will you trade him for a player being COMPARED to those 3..meaning, a QB that has not done anything... like.. Trevor Fields or Wilson..

A great defense is several players playing at a high level. A great QB himself practically makes up for all of that.

A generational-type kid? Believing your own QB is holding you back? I think if McVay thought that, he would most definitely look into getting Lawrence or someone of that viewed level....and yeah, that would include Donald in a deal.

You're right about a whole defense. But a great defense allowed Alex Smith and Collin Kaepernick go to 3 straight NFCCG and 1 SB. A great defense allowed JG go to 1 SB.

Alex Smith/CK/JG 4 NFCCG 2 superbowl appearances

Aaron Rodgers 4 NFCCG 2 SB appearances

Drew Brees 3 NFCCG 1 SB appearances

Peyton Manning only 2 SB appearances and his last he was worse than Brick Osweiler. Won BECAUSE of defense.

Having an offensive coach like Kyle you don't have to "trade the farm" or your best defensive player.

Easier to get a QB you can win with with Kyle as your OC than it is getting a dominant DL

Lawrence a huge maybe if the other team would take Goffs big contract too. Not even close for any other QB in this draft.

That's kinda my point. With Shanahan as offensive Co. and running the show....you don't need a lot around a great QB offensively. That side of the ball is taken care of with a great QB, so you can build a great defense with a myriad of talent. That would be the dream scenario in this day and age of the NFL....unless you want something similar in KC where they can just rip the hell outta anybody and hope the D makes a stop here and there.
Already getting outplayed by McCall. This guy sucks. 6th rounder at best. Looks like an oversized 11 year old too. Would not draft.

Should have 150 more yards a a td, if not for the dummies around him.

He does look like a 11 yr old though

That said Lawrence look like a sorority chick too lol

So great defense beat Aaron Rodgers last year with Shanahan's protégé at the helm.

Getting off topic. We agree to disagree

Aaron Rodgers is a perfect example of an organization leaving the QB out to dry. He's arguably the best QB of his generation (Brady/Manning/Brees) but his defenses have been laughably bad at times during his career - see last years NFCCG. That's on the Packers FO for not fielding at least a competent defense during his tenure.

But I agree....back to Wilson.
