If Mac could scramble like Wilson, he'd be the consensus number 1 overall. Funny thing is, that's really the only skill he's missing. Last I checked, scrambling ability guarantee SBs or MVP seasons. It's nice to have tho.

Arm strength, agility, and build are all things he's average or perhaps slightly below. But I will say, if he's elite at processing, then he can make up for those aspects. Not a lot of guys are elite processors when they get to the NFL and the bullets start to fly. We've seen Jimmy have the best six game stretch since Steve Young then start to see ghosts when the protection consistently broke down. Despite the relatively high floor for Mac, it's a pretty big leap of faith to take for a guy who had a historically good cast surrounding him last year.

I also think Trey Lance would be a leap of faith, but with good coaching and him possessing a brilliant mind, he can reach a much higher ceiling. You have to remember that when Mac was 19 and 20, he was a bench player who was partying and got a DUI. Lance, at that same age, was putting together tape that showed he was way ahead of the game. Yes, poor competition, but at 19 he was a man amongst boys, running pro style concepts. He also has displayed as much maturity at 19 and 20 as any QB in this draft. I understand why Peters is banging on the table for this kid. If you're gonna push your chips all in, go for the kid who has unlimited upside, and coach him the f**k up.

The problem is Peters isn't an offensive coordinator. You can have a great athlete but what if it's not the OCs preference or it doesn't match the OCs vision for his offense. Its like getting a speed back for a power scheme, or an athletic statue for the Roman offense. Now clearly Adam knows the kind of offense Kyle runs, but still, he isn't Kyle and its Kyle that has to coach up this guy picked at #3.

It may just come down to personal preference. Kyle said he wants a Drew Brees that can run like Lamar Jackson- but what if you have two QBs that can't do both, it may come down to what Kyle thinks is easier to coach and develop vs going down a path he doesn't prefer or knows will be a difficult path for either the player or team.

Oh, come on. This kid has the brain, drive, and maturity to be great. There's nothing he can't do with the proper coaching. You mean to say our coach is too good to take a ball of clay with unlimited potential and turn him into what he wants? You think that Mac Jones is just going to hit the ground running without growing pains and the need to be coached up for a year? That he's such a savant that he's going to be better than Jimmy in this offense from day 1? I get it, Lance is more raw, but he's light years ahead of the person and prospect Mac was at the same age. Are we too impatient to wait a year for our rookie QB to digest the playbook and be coached up? I find this philosophy to be chicken s**t. You have the balls to mortgage the future, but not the balls to swing for the fences. Cmon, coach. Trust your staff. Trust your evaluators.

Well I think Kyle hasn't changed his stripes, unfortunately, and is sticking to the Kirk Cousins/Matt Ryan model. Keep in mind he had a lot of success with those QBs (Matt and Jimmy models) recently.

I think the front office likes Lance, but from the press conference yesterday, they are willing to hang themselves by deferring to Kyle. Personally I think it will be fine with any of the three, my own preference would be a more mobile QB, but I think its clear Kyle wants Mac.

I agree. In the end, I think Mac does well with Kyle, but if we pass on Lance I could certainly see what-could-have-been noose wrapped around this franchise's neck like it had for well over a decade after we passed in Aaron Rodgers.

I'm more optimistic. Build a good supporting cast around Mac (or any of the other two QBs) and well be fine. A 10-6 team goes into the playoffs and can get a Lombardi. Just get into the playoffs every year, get into a 3 game win streak (or is it 4 now?) And whalla - #6 Lombardi.

It matters because he already has a dui on his record.

That's what I'm saying. It's one thing if Mac made a stupid mistake when he was young...it happens. It's another issue all together if he has an ongoing problem with this stuff...they better be sure on this type of thing.

Yeah, Kurt was very limited physically too, but played well when he was surrounded by top weapons. I also don't see a problem with Macs arm. He throws an nice easy and pretty deep ball, has a quick release, and good accuracy. His arm talent isn't where Fields and Lance are, but I don't think it's far behind either of them.

Mac Jones deep ball is awful! If you really know football go back and the tape. His receivers do all the work, Mac just throws the ball as far as he can and they track the ball a go get it! It does not matter whether it too short or too long, the receiver just speeds up or slows down. Also they track inside or out! Watch how many times the ball caught inside on a go route, the receiver jumps and takes the ball from the defender. In the NFL those will be Ints instead of Tds.

Agree to disagree, I watched all of Mac throws and loved his arm, accuracy, and deep ball.

Do you really think NY85 is going to hope he succeeds? Really? You know he's going to be blowing up every single thread with any real or perceived negative he can possibly find until he's completely burned out. LOL

Don't be a dick...I've said many times in this very thread I'll root for whoever is a Niner. Hated Sherm then he became a Niner. No I don't think he should be the pick. No I don't want him as the face of this franchise. I think there are massively better players then him. I will hope he turns into Brady or whatever and he pumped I was wrong...you're the one saying I always ride the company line...now I'm not?? Which is it?

Instead of constantly ignoring me...put you name down on who you prefer. Instead of being passive aggressive about everyone else and propping up Jones. We ALL know who you prefer, so man up and put your name too it, NC.

Split the difference. Take Fields.
Everytime I come back to this thread you have to sift though pages and pages and pages of whining just to get to see some new news/updates/posts etc...

This whole thread has become a sh*t show because of a handful of posters have to continously tell us the same sh*t every 10 minutes

Take the L you're wrong on this example...just stop it. Go find another legit off platform throw.

(a) No I'm not. If you're not stepping into your throw with a -- get this -- FLAT PLATFORM -- you're off platform. He DIDN'T. The screen grab that other guy even posted showed quite clearly that his torso was behind his center of balance. So, yeah, no, I'm not wrong on it.

(b) I already responded to this with a video that is more to your liking on that type of throw, on the run, feet not even remotely set. Of course because It's Jones you will say it's an easy throw and disregard that he clearly is throwing it on the run after escaping a pocket that would have resulted in the DT getting in his face had he not navigated out, using leverage to help the linemen pin him away.

So people scream that everyone is nitpicking Fields because of race but Mac goes out and parties and it is the end of the world lol.

Jones isn't even in my top four, but I know he's going to be a good QB. Yeah, the loss of potential stings, but the degree to which people are exaggerating his flaws is hysterical.
