Mac Jones-QB-Jaguars

If Mac didn't have all these character issues I don't think fans would react as much as they have. But the video that surfaced today just added on to that. I know these reporters are gonna hit hard hitting questions towards Kyle about if he cared so much about getting good guys why draft the guy with the most questions on top of getting the guy with the lowest potential. I don't think Kyle can provide a convincing answer. He just saw a Kirk Cousins clone and that's it.

I agree. They could've got this guy at 6, why trade up to 3 and give up all that you did for someone that's just as good as Kurt Cousins. I mean, if you really really really want the next Kurt Cousins because somehow that's the only person who can run your scheme, then why not shoot a lowball offer to Minnesota for him? Drafting McCorkle is something Kyle should never have control of, his job is the scheme plays, not make personnel choices, especially at QB. What I also worry about is Jones playing behind our s**tty O-line. With the non nfl body that he has, what if he gets hurt early? Jimmy might be traded this weekend so that leaves us with Rosen at QB1????

Whatever, I'm kinda done with being pessimistic about this, it is what is and I can't pretend to know more then anyone. I'll be drunk regardless of who we take

McVay said Goof can't do progressions, and he wanted Matt Stanford. The Rams went out and made it happen.

Kyle (presumably plus) wants Mac Jones. We just gave Kyle a contract extension. Lynch has final say. What do we do?

If you say no, and draft Lance or anybody else, after every loss, it's "well, he can't do what I asked. It's not My fault. I Told You So. It's Your fault."

The Shanahans were forced out of Washington because they didn't want to play RGIII (whom they made Rookie of the Year, with an offense they Knew couldn't take them far), and Did want to play a 4th round Cousins.

Kyle begged for permission to get out of his contract early to leave Cleveland, when they drafted Johnny Football Manziel. He got it.

Kyle Shanahan is GONE if you force a player on him that can't run his offense.

I know, there are M A N Y fools on this board with the hubris to value Their Pick at quarterback over retaining the smartest coach in the league. Do that, and we ain't Never seeing a Lombardi again in decades. Kyle made RGIII Rookie of the year, and Matt Ryan the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and the Most Valuable Player, and he took this horrible crappy team to the Super Bowl in his third year, and I'll lay odds he'll make Mac Jones Rookie of the Year this year. But NO. You guys know best.

"Beam me up, Scotty. There is no intelligent life down here."

I can't wait to start picking apart this league with Intelligence. That's how we got the first 5 Lombardi's, and it's how we'll get the next 5. Or not.
I never thought of that point above. Very good point! I think if Lynch picks the QB, other than it being a really bad idea, it would probably break their friendship and relationship and that won't ever heal again.

Kyle Shanahan has final say. It's written in his contract. I remember this because it was one of Jed's selling points to lure Shanahan here.

That guy must not remember Drew Brees early in his career! The dude moved extremely well. Maybe not as athletic by today's standards with the surplus of pure athletes in today's league, by he absolutely had mobility. He also had a peashooter as an arm by today's standards.

mac has an equivalent or better arm than brees, taller, and has a faster 40 time than brees and mahomes. all that with a dad bod.

He's not wrong, but the timeline of tolerance is going to be compressed based on who the pick is. If it's Jones, and he starts the season and doesn't play well initially, the fans aren't going to have patience and the negativity will begin to seep into the locker room.

If there are fans on opening week, prepare for the "we want Sudfield!" Or "we want Rosen!" chants if Jones throws a pick.

Jones is not going to get the benefit of the doubt that most rookie QBs taken that high would get.

Yeah, that's too bad esp. in a Kyle playbook. He's still going to need time...2 years minimum and that's on a fast track. 3+ is more realistic.

But, tis the new insta-world.

You want to give him another three years? Lol

It think it goes 1) John Lynch has the draft 2) Kyle has the 53+ man roster and 3) they each have veto power over the other guys choices - so really nothing gets done unless both are in agreement. Or so I think - in practice - that's how it's looking. When John basically deferred the QB decision to Kyle, I think it goes more to common sense than any contract right.

Nah, he's still white, fat and unathletic. He'd be hated no matter what. LOL

Yep.

Yeah, my eyes must deceive me because Mac Jones, based on the numbers in front of me, is the better athlete than Patrick Mahomes.

What other character issues did he have beyond a DUI as a freshman?

I'm talking about mastering the playbook and full nuances of the offense to the point he and Kyle are in complete lock step. Full mastery. But that would be for any QB coming in.

Dressing up as Obama with dreadlocks? Frat boy attitude? Certainly not issues to take him off the board as I know what it's like to be a 20 year old moron, but Lance at the same age has displayed next level maturity and intelligence.
