Yes, let's get Jed involved with personnel matters, because that's what good owners always do.

Just this once! Kyle is a great play caller/coach but he literally chose Brian Hoyer/solly over Watson and mahomes. Personally I don't trust him to pick qbs

Definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expect different results.

Did Jed okay the trade up to #3?

Owners are always briefed on such moves ahead of time. It's a courtesy so they don't look dumb and uninformed in future conversations. Jed has the Power to intervene, but that would break the hiring agreement and put a high risk of blowing everything up.

He 100% should intervene and stop this madness

So you want Jed to control football operations again? Really? Really?

Just this time.
No thank you...It literally took us fans paying for banners to fly over levis to put him in his place.

An owner inserting themselves into personnel matters to overrule his coach is like dressing in a scuba suit to go to a wedding, you just don't do it. I don't think it would take much for Shanahan to tell Jed to go f**k himself either. Jed needs Kyle far more than Kyle needs Jed.

McVay said Goof can't do progressions, and he wanted Matt Stanford. The Rams went out and made it happen.

Kyle (presumably plus) wants Mac Jones. We just gave Kyle a contract extension. Lynch has final say. What do we do?

If you say no, and draft Lance or anybody else, after every loss, it's "well, he can't do what I asked. It's not My fault. I Told You So. It's Your fault."

The Shanahans were forced out of Washington because they didn't want to play RGIII (whom they made Rookie of the Year, with an offense they Knew couldn't take them far), and Did want to play a 4th round Cousins.

Kyle begged for permission to get out of his contract early to leave Cleveland, when they drafted Johnny Football Manziel. He got it.

Kyle Shanahan is GONE if you force a player on him that can't run his offense.

I know, there are M A N Y fools on this board with the hubris to value Their Pick at quarterback over retaining the smartest coach in the league. Do that, and we ain't Never seeing a Lombardi again in decades. Kyle made RGIII Rookie of the year, and Matt Ryan the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and the Most Valuable Player, and he took this horrible crappy team to the Super Bowl in his third year, and I'll lay odds he'll make Mac Jones Rookie of the Year this year. But NO. You guys know best.

"Beam me up, Scotty. There is no intelligent life down here."

I can't wait to start picking apart this league with Intelligence. That's how we got the first 5 Lombardi's, and it's how we'll get the next 5. Or not.
I never thought of that point above. Very good point! I think if Lynch picks the QB, other than it being a really bad idea, it would probably break their friendship and relationship and that won't ever heal again.

Why did KS go out of his way to say he feels there's 5 guys? If he believes there's 5 there shouldn't be a problem as long as its one of those 5, right? He didn't have to say that. He could've easily said 3

At #3, there's (obviously) three QB's that can be taken in any number of ways, and on top of that, at #3 (if Lawrence and Zach are taken) there are going to be three that everybody thinks can run Kyle's system (Mac, Fields, Lance) Mond/Mills etc... are lower tier athletes that aren't in the class of Mac/Fields/Lance (according to a lot of opinions) so 2+3 = 5.

Having said that, the more confusing he makes it, the better for him - or so he says - because it doesn't tell anything to the rest of the NFL, and even to the first guys who are picking (Jags and Jets). I'm sure that both Jags and Jets are listening to what Kyle says - and so what the Jags and Jets are saying too. I'm betting Urban was either forced to look more closely at Fields and the other QB's or was impelled to do so because of what Kyle said or did. Same with the Jets. There is a very very very slim chance that Zach comes to the 49ers because the Jets take Fields. (Very slim chance) But why not try to help that a little bit by saying stuff that might entice the two above him to possibly to do so.

And I can follow all of that...but if he really means 5, not gamesmanship, he has effectively okayed those 5, right? He may have a preference and an order of those 5 but within the list of the 5 it shouldn't' be looked at as someone else forced a QB on him he didn't want

Forcing something on Kyle - when Kyle runs the show - is a hard concept to buy. I think the Jimmy deal was something that was unexpected rather than forced. Kyle's always like Jimmy, and both John and Kyle liked Jimmy prior to the trade -- that's why Bill sent Jimmy to the 49ers. My understanding is that they were the only ones in the NFC that asked for Jimmy. Nobody else in the NFC asked. Point being - I don't think John could force a QB onto Kyle if Kyle didn't want that particular QB -- Kyle has too much power for John or anybody else to do that to him.

Force this QB decision on Kyle and he might literally create another Powerpoint to get out of this HC job.

Dude, I never connected Jed York using a powerpoint presentation to convince Shanahan to come here back to Shanahan using a powerpoint presentation to get out of Cleveland.

If force comes to shove, a power struggle between Kyle and John, John is going to lose in my opinion. I don't think Jed is as stupid as he was during the Harbaugh/Baalke tussle. I think Jed's learned his lesson that if you divide the HC and GM duties - you are asking for trouble. And it didn't work out last time he sided with the GM, so this time he'll side with the Coach. The GM duties can be filled by Adam Peters (with probably less media glitz and articulation than with John) and even (possibly) Mike Shanahan would be an acceptable GM to Jed if Jed had to let John go.

Pretty sure Blaine Gabbert just won a SB.
If we take Mac Jones one thing is certain, I don't see George going on and on about how beautiful he is, or wearing a shirt with his face on it like he does with Jimmy.
