Not quite sure how to take that.

I think Jones' accuracy last year has affected some peoples' evaluation. He was accurate but he rarely faced any pressure and had receivers wide open most of the time. How will he look if protection breaks down and he has to roll out and throw into a tight window on the run.
We keep saying this but Sark ran Kyle's offense in 2017-2018 as Atlanta's OC.

And that proves he's a fit....

Sarkisian was running plays straight out of Kyle's playbook, even if they were from out of the shotgun. Sage Rosenfels and others have covered the overlap between the two. Shanahan knows that Jones can run the offense because he's seen him running his actual plays.

Not only will they have to learn this complex offense, but also the nuances of playing QB in the NFL. It just seems so unlikely and irresponsible to hand the reigns of a Super Bowl roster over to an unproven rookie who just picked up the most complex NFL playbook.
Very fair take. That's my concern as well. Granted they get to rollover $25M to next year but...
...all these vets who are ready to win today. Jimmy gives you the best chance.

Was watching this vid interview of Mac last night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9W_bUb4X2c
I must admit that Mac is a very sharp kid. He was a 4.0 GPA student both in high school and college. He said he never missed a class while at Alabama. So yes, I see the allure of his competitiveness and intelligence. I'm trying my best to warm up to the kid knowing he well may be the pick.

Man. Not only this team doesn't want to improve their O line but they want to get rid of their best QB? SMH.I blame Lynch for this line of thinking. Kyle isn't this stupid.

All of these guys are pretty smart. Not a single one should have any issue picking up the offense.

A few things have me skeptical with the Lance overtakes Jones narrative today. First, it doesn't jive with the parallel narrative that Jimmy might be moved imminently, because Lance doesn't seem ready. Second, the press conference and stories leaking today, that they've kept an open mind in the evaluation process and the gap is closing, etc., feels PR designed to blunt criticism of a Jones pick. I perceived this in the Shanahan/Lynch press conference also, where Kyle's most conviction seemed to be when he was explaining that a fan base might not love something now, but they'll love it when they are winning. That implicitly seemed to acknowledge that the pick would be unpopular. Lastly, from a playing perspective, I think Shanahan values accuracy, and that's a bit of a chink in the armor of Lance, no doubt. I've watched some of his games, not just highlights, and his accuracy can be off significantly in deep passing.
If they go Lance, though, I'm at peace. He is a terrific athlete and will bring new problems for a defense to solve, and everyone says he's a smart and great kid. I think the Niners have done an honest job with their due diligence on the prospects. The fan base should get behind whoever they take and not carry sour grapes forward.

Most scouts grade Lance's deep ball as a "plus". I just watched film of Jones struggle to complete a 45 yard pass downfield. He just doesn't have that much on the ball where power/velocity is concerned. If you want a good deep ball the pick is Lance, not Jones.

In seriousness, Mac Jones does look a lot more athletic than one of his most common comps Kirk Cousins pic.twitter.com/KfdYAOo4Hu

There's no way. Lance will sometimes miss guys by 5-10 yards on deep stuff. And Jones accuracy on the deep passing is why the Alabama passing game went more vertical this year. That's just not true. But Lance clearly can bring other huge skills to the table that might more than compensate for some inaccuracy on the deep ball, and if the game is to create deep, off platform opportunities ala Mahomes, the receivers sometimes get so open on those plays accuracy isn't of paramount importance. But if Jones weren't very accurate he wouldn't even be the QB at Alabama. I'm not buying that take at all.

77% completion percentage for a season against an all SEC schedule. Accuracy and arm strength are not his issues.
