writing on the wall, tea leaves etc etc. You were just as fooled.

I already said I couldn't disregard all the smoke at one point….the VAST MAJORITY of my posts were saying there was no way they should be and I refused to believe we were that stupid.

Didnt stand out enough for anyone to trade up for him. There's a reason the pats had to settle for Mac (and I assure you if they had the choice of the top 5 QBs, Mac would've been the 5th choice). Everyone puts a good spin when they have to settle and I have no issue with that

Not sure what your stance is. If you're trying to prove the worth of a player by the position he went in a draft, I've got news for you.

PS: I didn't read it. Just posting for those who wanted to.

The long term worth? Only time can prove that. The context of the article you posted is how he "stood out" pre-draft. He didn't stand out enough for anyone to trade up to get him (including pats, who had to settle). The reason is that he was the 5th best QB based on the NFLs evaluation of him. That doesn't mean he will be the 5th best (could be better or worse than 5th)

FWIW :

Patriots didn't have to settle, they could have tried to move up for Fields but AFAIK they did not attempt to do so.

And there are/were reports of the Saints trying to trade up in front of the Pats for Jones. They simply couldn't find a willing trade partner.

1. We don't know who tried to trade up for what
2. If the pats were so infatuated with Jones they wouldn't have risked losing out on him. It's clear they weren't worried about that and/or didn't care if it happened

We do know the Saints tried to trade up. They came up short.

And the Pat's didn't have to settle but they chose let the draft come to them and took Jones. And we know they did homework on Fields and Jones as that too was reported. If they thought like most fans on here, they would have jumped up for Fields but they did not.
