the difference is he no longer has drastically better players than the opponent at basically every position

Lol so efficient. 13-19 for 87 yards. Mac Jones sucks ass!

This is why we can't have nice things.
I have nothing against Mac Jones personally beyond the fact that he isn't very good.

A QB who averaged 4.6 yards per completion did not have a good game. That's 1 yard lower than Mostert's career per yard average running the ball.

I don't think it was short, it was his typical lollipop deep ball though. A better DB is turning and taking that. Too much air in his deep balls IMO.

by air do you mean arc? because lance has a russell wilson esque arc to his throw, and i love it. i see nothing wrong with macs either.

Funny you say that. Was watching him
last night and something about his QB mannerisms reminded me of Wilson, figured I was just stoned

Lol it was his first professional PRESEASON game executing a vanilla offensive playbook. Jones I'm sure will be a fine professional.

Ohh boy if you want to go there….Trey Lances only game in the last year was worse. 50% for 4.8 ay/a.

This is a Mac Jones thread. Why are you so obsessed with Trey!!!

Defender's right there. A catchable ball,...certainly far from perfect though.

Dude is soft, can see it in his eyes, once he starts getting hit he is going to go Jim Everett and see ghosts 😂
I thought he played pretty well, and for his first game, I was a bit surprised and a bit impressed with how efficient he was. It wasn't a perfect game, and sure, you'd like to see more YPA, but can't knock him too hard as we don't know what the script was; they might have wanted to get him into a successful rythym for his first out. Will need more games to be sure, though he did definitely leave some yards out there with what did appear to be an unwillingness to test his velocity. What matters tho is that he mostly was moving the chains, and looked comfortable and in command. As for his pocket presence, no he wasn't a threat to tuck it and run, but I do like that he steps up to evade pressure, even on the plays where he took sacks, he wasn't just retreating further into the back field.

As for the poster citing the under thrown ball, watching live in broadcast, I'm actually in agreement. Don't get me wrong, it was a great throw, right in the bucket, and should have definitely been caught despite the great defensive play. All blame on the receiver. But with that said, it wasn't a perfect throw. I think what the other poster is getting at, which is undeniable, is that the receiver had to slow down to track the ball, which is what gave the defender time to get back in phase and contest the catch. Is slowing down to track the ball normal? Of course. Was it still a great pass? Yes. But if he had lead him further toward the back corner of the endzone, the defender would not have been able to interrupt the process of thee catch, and the ball would not have been overthrown. The receiver slowed up, tracked the ball perfectly, and just failed to make the catch. No slowing up, and he would have had the opportunity for a catch deeper in the EZ without a receivers hand in his face.

Still a pretty ball especially for being so new to the team and these receivers.

But he made up for that with his legs on 15 carries for 143 yards (9.5 average) and 2 TDS. He literally ran his team to victory.

If that's nice things then I don't want it. I'm happy with my great things ahead with Trey

I've just watched a repeat of the first few quarters and two things jumped out to me.

1) Mac is much better than Cam at this point and they should start him.

2) I'm so glad we didn't draft him. Just looks limited, efficient, but limited.

Bahahahahahahahahahahaha he's better than Cam.

Much better than Cam at this point.

Unfortunately Cam processes slower and his release is slower. This has always sort of been the case the velocity on the ball used to make up for it, but his arm is shot.

I hope someone shows Cam film to Trey, it's all well and good trucking people for years, but it takes it's toll.

you have to watch the game he played well. Got the ball out quick. Had a few drops that was especially one that went for like 30-40 yards
