Mac Jones-QB-Jaguars

Again he looked like we thought he would. Showed off some touch on his deep ball, made some good line drives... but he also underthrew allot of balls that his receivers had to scoop up to catch.

But also lets not get ahead of ourselves... While watching the game all I could think was "Damn imagine if our QBs had that much time in the pocket." He had all day to wait for his receivers to get open against some pretty soft zone coverages. Give Lance that same amount of time to throw against a soft zone and he'd look pretty damn good too.

He was part of the reason he had that kind of time. You see him presnap getting everyone/everything situated. Then there's his movement in the pocket. He has been "moved off his platform " quite a bit in his 2 games and looks a hell of a lot more natural than Trey did last week when he was "moved off his platform ".
The haters were correct about one thing though. His Bama receivers did make him look good. By not dropping perfectly thrown balls like his NFL receivers
I didnt see anyone within 3 feet of him all game, nice wide open lanes to throw through, heavy feet in his drops, almost broke his leg on a 3 yard scramble, has to load up on throws that aren't within 10 yards.

He's going to struggle big time.
I'd love to see Trey play with the kind of protection that Mac had tonight. He was only pressured on a few plays and generally had time and a clean pocket to throw from. The opposite of what Trey had last week. Can only speculate how Mac would have done behind a porous line like our second stringers.

This is the worst take I've seen. He showed pocket presence and scrambled several times. There was one play where he elleuded the sack and got the ball to the reciever. The play was negated by a holding penalty. The guy knows how to move his feet in the pocket even though he isn't mobile ala Ben Roethlisberger. He also got the ball out quickly to give the presence of no pass rush. He's quick and decisive. Something I have not seen once with Lance. I know it's just preseason, but I'm worried.
he looks just like Brady in the pocket.
He looked good last night. Folks hate shining bright

This right here. The elite cerebral qbs put their line in a position to succeed.
plus, Mac makes a busy pocket look clean and Lance makes a decent pocket look chaotic with his fidgety motions. He has a loooong ways to go.

Respectfully, I'm not sure you watched all his drop backs, or you don't understand what you were seeing.

Looks pretty good. But holy s**t a lot of crowing in here after 2 preseason games lol

Agree. Was a big opponent of his, but he has looked good. Eight of his completions were to RBs
We are seeing nothing that wasn't expected. Think back before the draft to what all the talk was. Some fans thought that Jones would be a better fit for the Niners and was more ready to play. Then we had the other group of fans that wanted a guy that has more athleticism like Lance or Fields even though they would have more to learn. Of the 5 QBs the 3 that were expected to play the soonest were Jones, Wilson and Lawrence. Not only were they the most experienced but they were drafted by teams in great need of a QB.
This is beautiful. It showed up many times in his college tape, too. I'm a firm believer that you can't teach this—you've either got it or you don't.

Not one single person in here mentioning Mac is playing with all his starting offensive line, WRs, and RBs against the Eagles backups.

Meanwhile Lance played against the Chiefs starters and behind a Swiss cheese offensive line.

I don't say that to diminish Jones. I was one of the few who liked all three top QBs. He's going to be a Matt Ryan level of qb.

But y'all overreacting over a preseason game and add no context to their situations at all. The pats offensive line might be the best pass blocking offensive line in the NFL.

Mac Jones moves up in the pocket and throws a strike = "OMG we shoulda drafted Mac Jones"

Trey Lance moves up in the pocket and throws a strike + receiver drops the ball = " bad play, is Lance a bust?"

You're a fool if you think Mac Jones didn't have the early advantage playing at Alabama and behind a great pass blocking offensive line in New England, Trey isn't a finished product.

This is a marathon not a sprint. Y'all buncha Stuart Little's I swear.

Lance's worst plays were later in the game, against the Chiefs 2nd/3rd stringers. Stop being so defensive about praise for Mac Jones, sheesh.
Wonder if the hate for him was because everyone thought he was the pick at 3. I don't dislike the guy, but if he was the pick at 3, it would be questionable. If we stayed at 12 and picked him, wouldn't be mad. So far he's been looking good.
