Lamar Jackson. Yes, winning MVP is successful.
Cam Newton. Yes, winning MVP is successful.

Those two would be the best examples and neither have won a super bowl. Can came close but Lamars lack of pocket ability shows up big in the postseason.
Also, Trey has nowhere near the physical gifts of those two/ LJs speed, acceleration and agility or Cams strength and speed. If he did he would've gotten a few big time offers out of high school.
They did have similar pass attempts to rush attempts as Trey in college tho so good pull.

Just answering your question, that was easy. Now to the bolded, remind me of the big time offers that Newton got out of high school and where he was prior to transferring to Auburn and whooping Bamas ass, since you know, Trey has nowhere near the physical gifts of Cams strength and speed.

Touche
cam was a top 25 overall recruit and signed with Florida out of high school. It would be easier to list the schools that didn't offer.
So much for that heh

Ooh s**t forgot about Florida, props. He did nothing there though and had to dominate in Junior College (even worse than NDSU) before getting another shot or offers from anywhere before Auburn. My point was supposed to be that Trey could've EASILY transferred to a high profile school after the season he had at NDSU like Cam did if he chose to do so. But touche on the offers that Cam indeed did get out of high school and Trey did not

He absolutely could have and he showed a lot of character staying at NDSU. Some kids just develop later.
but on Cam, he only went juco because he stole a computer and was kicked out of school. He's always been an off the charts talent. And he was elite in his prime in the nfl.
More worried about how good Fields is going to be vs Lance. Happy with Lance over Jones, but Fields was first choice. Gonna shatter that "Ohio State QBs can't play in NFL" BS. Mac was never a possibility for 49ers, too little upside.

but Mac already had elite traits coming out of college that you cant really teach.

The only thing I saw about Mac Jones coming outta college was the results he got while under center. Nothing on his tape though showed me that he has a generational talent and skills set but Fields and Lance did show these traits

If we want to say Mac Jones had elite film however then I concur and NE agreed with tier top 15 selection used on him. I simply would not have been happy as a fan had we picked Mac Jones at 3 after what we spent to move into that slot. Especially seeing as how he went picks after our original selection

what traits did he have that you can't teach? typically you can't "teach" having the arm Fields has, or the speed, etc. you CAN teach quarterbacks how to navigate the pocket better, how to throw with touch, how to use your eyes. Now i'm not saying teaching those things are easy or that every QB can learn it, but it can (and has) been taught.

you make it seem so simple. Just teach them up! If it was possible to just teach anyone with speed and arm strength how to play QB, they'd all be Hall of Famers. Brains, touch, accuracy, leadership are the rarest of traits. None of them can be taught.
The patriots back up O line was more impressive than Jones tbph. He was basically playing 7 on 7 for the most part with all the time in the world and playing against a baby sh*t soft zone… I would hope he would do well just like any other NFL qb in that situation.

I wanna see how he does against a real game day defense and has less than 3-5 seconds to throw. Pretty sure all of the big 5 Rookie QBs would look like future all pros in the same games.

Brains can't be taught? Lol. Guy, everything you've listed can be taught. Josh Allen was inaccurate in college? guess what he was last year? Accurate. No rookie is a "leader"I of the team walking in and many develop this. I literally said it's not easy for some of these things but they can all be taught.
If accuracy, brains, leadership & touch are so easily taught, we should just get Lance's bust ready for the Hall of Fame. We can place it right next to Ryan Leaf, Jeff George & Michale Vick.
To be fair, the QB has to have the willingness to learn those QB intricacies. Michael Vick admitted to not trying to learn the QB aspects beyond the field.
