No, no, no. Many on here were adament that Trey was the most pro ready qb. We were told over and over again how he ran a pro style offense and would immediately adapt to Shanahans system. Just before the 1st preseason game we were told that Jimmy was not needed and that Trey would be starting this year. Many were eager to get as much for Jimmy as we could because try was ready now.

So no, that excuse does not hold water.

Yea the Trey Lance arguments have changed for sure from predraft to preseason.
Never forget

The fact that Jones is performing better than Lance at this point should not surprise anyone nor should it discourage 49er fans. Jones has had a LOT more experience, recent experience than Trey.

Jones is exactly what most thought he would be - the most "pro-ready" QB of the draft. Lance is also showing what most thought of him - he lacks experience and polish. Jones is in a situation where the door was wide open for him to win the QB1 slot. Lance is in a different situation. As long as the team is winning with Garappolo there are sound reasons why Trey will watch and learn.

This. Everyone knew that mac would look good right away. Why am I seeing some people (not here necessarily) already wishing we got mac.

Umm that's b******t lol everyone knew he was the rawest player in the draft. Maybe at most a few people said that but the majority said he needs some time to develop.

Good call.
Lol nobody said Trey was the most day 1 ready. They said he played in the same offense we have & called out his own protections, so maybe that's where people are confused? Everybody said he'd need time.

As for Mac, he has killed it & looked great!

This.

Mac had a higher floor, Trey had higher ceiling. Most said it would be at least half a season before he should start.
Everyone here knew or should have known Jones was the most pro-ready of these guys. This is irrelevant to Trey Lance, who STILL has a dramatically higher ceiling, and isn't looking bad at all. Three TD passes and a rushing TD. How many does Jones have again?

I'm just going to leave this here lol
Apparently drafting Trey was a big mistake, Mac has looked soooo good this preseason and has beat Cam for the starting spot. That's basically what I've heard all day, are you kidding me! Everyone needs to chill the F out. Whatever Mac has done until this point has been against base defenses with 2nd and 3rd stringers trying to make the team. All along pre-draft Mac was said to be the most pro ready out of the top 5 QB's, that includes Trevor. This should of been expected so for all of you who wanted Trey and are now saying should of got Mac, wait to talk until a couple more weeks when regular season starts and a real defense lines up , we'll see how Mac does then.

Isn't looking bad? Dunno man! One play Trey has looked the worst of the 5 rooks. I will say he has looked better than Monds and Trask though,

When he does good. The goal post will be moved further back. Then further back. Then further back.

Monds and Trask weren't 1st round picks for a reason

They won't admit it but people simply didn't like Mac because he was immobile. I can admit he was 3rd on my list due to it. If you actually watched him he has all the tools needed to be a good to great QB. Football IQ, a good arm, the ability to throw receivers open(he gets no credit for this, Trey is good at this as well), and fantastic pocket awareness.

And the "ceiling" argument is terrible. How could you possibly know a rookies ceiling? Mac absolutely destroyed SEC talent having one of the greatest seasons ever. What exactly lowers his ceiling besides...he's not mobile, even though pocket passers are Superbowl winners a vast vast majority of the time.
