Mac Jones-QB-Jaguars

They won't admit it but people simply didn't like Mac because he was immobile. I can admit he was 3rd on my list due to it. If you actually watched him he has all the tools needed to be a good to great QB. Football IQ, a good arm, the ability to throw receivers open(he gets no credit for this, Trey is good at this as well), and fantastic pocket awareness.

And the "ceiling" argument is terrible. How could you possibly know a rookies ceiling? Mac absolutely destroyed SEC talent having one of the greatest seasons ever. What exactly lowers his ceiling besides...he's not mobile, even though pocket passers are Superbowl winners a vast vast majority of the time.

Another argument that was made is he played at Alabama with a great offensive line and weapons everywhere. As you stated the tools were there. I for one would not have minded if they drafted him but I did like Trey and Fields more.
Feels like Josh Rosen vs. Josh Allen in 2018 all over again.

I have 'lurked' on this thread since it started many months prior to draft day: my one and ONLY question thorough out is simply this: If Mac Jones is hoisting a Lombardi Trophy as the QB who FINALLY secured the San Francisco 49ers 'Quest for Six' rings- would ANYBODY care how much 'draft capital' it took to take him at #3?!

Allen and Rosen are from California and Mac and Lance are not. What a wack comparison.

LOL

It's a lazy comparison, that is all. Just like Trey is baby Kap.

Wat? It's the same answer for any QB who gets you a sb win. Why is this exclusive to Mac?
Not exclusive to Mac Jones- many on this thread were fine with SF staying at #12 and taking him, but because of the cost Miami demanded for the #3 Pick, the cost of multiple firsts, blinded the 49er Faithful to the ULTIMATE objective of WINNING Super Bowls
This guy looked damn good. His footwork and pocket movement is NFL ready.

Most don't think he would win a sb, here or otherwise. Has it changed and he's won a sb?

NOT only that he looked good, the fact that he and Fields both have lesser pressure than LANCE made MAC look more ready..

I'm not sure if my eyes were playing tricks on me, but, HOW is it possible that the Pats WRs seem slower than ours but able to go down field 15 yards and get a nice simple completions from MAC?

The turning point that truly tilted things in Jones' favor was when he took over for three practices last week as Newton was absent for a COVID-19 protocol "misunderstanding."

Players responded to the 2020 Heisman Trophy finalist. The offense under Jones looked Patriot-like, with empty formations, tempo and alterations at the line of scrimmage that were commonplace when former quarterback Tom Brady was at the controls. And in a bit of irony, the transition to Jones was in some ways similar to what unfolded in 2001 when Brady seized the job from Drew Bledsoe.
