I used last year's stats

Does it ever get old? You were the same way when we drafted Vernon Davis. Went out of your way to prove why he wasn't a good draft pick and despite the fact that he was so far ahead of the guy you wanted (Michael Huff) or your #2 (AJ Hawk) and you spent years trying to disparage Davis until it got to the point that it was obvious that Davis was by FAR the better pick....

Just stop and root for the 49ers Kriz. You've been proven wrong by far worse front offices......

Him, Phoenix, NcCommand and a few others just LOVE Mac. They would rather see him succeed than the 49ers just to say "I TOLD YOU SO!". They went all in and are now stuck with him. Even when he busts, they'll make excuses as to how he went to the wrong team or whatever they can conjure up.

Sad you see it like that.

I personally loved the debate the most. Unathletic QB who excels at everything QB-related (except supreme athleticism) vs. the raw athletic H-W-S freak with huge upside both with the same number of starts.

Watching the film of both including every single throw from Trey was fascinating. Watching NFL QB's break down the tape was terrific. You could see why even the 49ers own staff thought the pick was Mac...media...but also see why they might go Trey too!

So far it's turned out exactly as I anticipated.

What made Mac the most interesting was the amount of hate thrown on him because he wasn't a Madden QB.

Yet the dude just earns his stripes at every challenge and winning the starting gig week 1 was just another example of that.

If Trey lives up to the projected "high ceiling" and learns all the nuances that Mac already possesses, this will all be moot in the end.

If not, then we got took by another H-W-S guy who just couldn't play QB at the next level and there are a lot of those guys just like there are a lot of unathletic QB's who didn't develop enough other skills to find success at the next level.

AJ hawk was never a want for me. I am posting in the Mac Jones thread about Mac Jones. Is that not the appropriate place to talk about Mac Jones?

Vernon Davis was never worth the #6 pick. No TE is. Which was my point back then. All I heard was how he was going to revolutionize the TE position? All because he was big and fast. Despite his tape showing otherwise. Did he revolutionize the TE position? Was he worth the #6 pick? So in essence, you guys were proven wrong more than I was. Though I will admit he obviously did do better than Huff.

Now here we are some 15 years later fascinated by another physical specimen. Except we threw a hell of a lot more in the wishing well than just the 6th overall pick this time around.

While i am rooting for Mac I obviously want to see my 9ers win. As i've stated before. I would love nothing more than to be wrong on Trey. Yes I am a 9er fan 1st but i like alot of non 49ers players. I loved watching Drew Brees. Peyton Manning. Kurt Warner. Troy Aimkan. I love watching QB's who are accurate. That was/is why i was so fascinated with Jones. His accuracy IMO is on par with the guys I mentioned and I just love watching it.

Will there be some "i told you so" sure there will be. I expect nothing less if it ends up the other way. Alot of us put alot of time and effort into these debates over the past 8 months. That's what these boards are for. It goes both ways. As it should. There is however, a world where both sides could be right.

As for excuses, I hear a lot of them. They seem to be coming from the other side of the fence though

Well said!

I've been avoiding this thread since the draft because I don't ever want to come off as if I'm only a Mac lover and waiting for my "I told you so" moment. I'm fully in Trey's corner and will continue to cheer for him as long as he's on the team, as I do EVERY player. Still, so far everything has played out exactly as I thought it would when we were in here driving the bus for Mac during the draft process. Absolutely nothing has changed YET.

To be clear, I wasn't driving the bus. In fact, I wasn't on ANY of the buses as all 3 had clear holes in their games and that was a lot of capital to burn.

I did however buy into the 3 gazillion media links directly tied to Mac and the 49ers which then proved to be equally bought into in-house as well.

So much so that the IDEA that Mac could go at 3 was very very real...even inside their own headquarters.

And the raging hate on him just made debating the idea he could be our guy, that much more intriguing.

I genuinely didn't care who Kyle picked as long as it ended up being the right guy in the end. All 3 have their own styles and major concerns in their games but all 3 were going to get Kyle and that offense and probably reach their full potential HERE.

Good and exciting times!

Why not both? I want Lance to be successful and I want Jones to be successful. And I want Fields, Lawrence and Wilson to be successful too. The NFL is better, more entertaining overall when there's better overall QB play. The odds are against every single one of these quarterbacks panning out but it would be pretty cool and historic to see if they did.

Also you're the last guy to criticize anyone with your Ohio State homerism and the constant passive aggressive attacks on any QB that isn't Fields. People who live in glass houses throwing stones and all of that.
Hot take here, but Lance isn't much of a H-W-S freak. He's got good height and weight with a really powerful arm, but he's not exactly a burner.

Yep. If he was an outlier or even at the top of those charts he would've had plenty big time offers. I really think he got tons of helium simply off putting up 28-0 td/int #s. That's just never seen and the I really believe he benefited off the next season being cancelled.

Oh, and congrats to Mac.

Trey could spend the rest of his career working on mechanics, and he'll likely never have them as good as Watson. Watson is a lot more slippery than Trey, and their builds are nothing alike. I don't get this comparison at all.

Watson's mechanics are 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Yes I maybe be wrong about Watson and from a physique standpoint he is more like Allen, I just thought the way Watson and Lance move in the pocket was comparable. Then again Watson seems to stand more tall in the pocket.
Wtf this guy who doesn't even play for the 49ers has a thread that is half the size as Kyle Shanahan's

Watson is pretty dang comfortable in the pocket. I would compare Lances more to Daniel Jones. He gets rushed and chaos ensues mechanically. He also doesn't anticipate blind side pressure yet either.

Compared to Mac Jones he is.

Oh yeah, Macs a fat sack of milk who couldn't outrun a 3 toed sloth, I bet he can't complete a pass in the NFL.

There's some truth to this tbh...not referring to anyone In particular. 🤔
