Mac Jones-QB-Jaguars

Hes just an incredibly limited QB who is being protected by scheme atm. He won't progress beyond this because it is who he is. The Patriots could have picked up this production in FA or later in the draft.

Wasted pick.

Through first two career starts...

Mac Jones: 1W-1L, 74% comp, 467 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT, 96.7 rating, 20.5 points per game
AJ McCarron: 1W-1L, 66% comp, 392 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, 98.2 rating, 20.5 points per game
I find it funny Mac is getting all this praise and people keep talking down about Jimmy but if you look at their stats through the 1st two games, Jimmy has been better than Mac Jones. Neither guy has thrown a pick, Mac has 1 passing TD, Jimmy has two. Jimmy has a rushing TD and has rushed for 22 yards and Jones has zero TD's and no rushing yards. Jimmy has been sacked once and Mac 4 times. Mac has fumbled twice, Jimmy zero. Jimmy has throws for more yards and a had a better passer rating. Mac only has Jimmy in Comp % slightly.

But apparently Mac looks like a stud and Jimmy looks horrible.

Pressure my ass. I just watched all 22 of his completions and he had pressure on 2 or 3 at the most (unless you count screens). So unless all 8 of his incompletions came while under pressure, that 'context' is b******t.

Why you so mad though?

One is a rookie playing in the first two games of their NFL career and the other is an eight year veteran. You'd expect entirely different standards for the two, no?

Yeah but the Mac Jones fans aren't saying he is looking good for a rookie. They are saying stuff like "He looks elite". And my point wasn't to say Jimmy has been really good. It's to say that Mac hasn't been anything special, That even our current starting QB that everyone complains about is outplaying him.

Not necessarily. Mac supposedly had a super human IQ and was the king of the underneath routes. He fell to Bill Belicheck... the perfect system for him. What he has done in his first 3 games is almost exactly what most people have predicted... it's just being overplayed by his fans here.

No pressure, ball out quick, excellent offensive system, damn near everything at or around the line of scrimmage, no "big" throws yet.

I think pretty much everyone praising him has been saying that he looks really good....for a rookie. He has the highest completion percentage for a rookie QB in his first two games in the last 50 years. By rookie QB standards he's been everything they could have asked for thus far.

The Patriots are also doing a great job working him in and not putting too much on his plate.

You showed him!
Just curious as to how he will do when the league has film on him. McDaniels made Cassel and Orton look like probowlers for a period of time... just like Kyle made BDN look serviceable for awhile. But when those defenders have tendencies on film and get an extra step, QBs that started off well can turn into the Dalton's, Penningtons, etc's of the world.
