He/we better hope Trey is worth it!
It feels like the 49ers panicked unnecessarily. They could have stayed put and drafted Jones, they could have taken Rashawn Slater who'd be an instant starter somewhere on the OL. They took a massive gamble with Lance, I hope it pays off in the end because otherwise, its going to suck as a 49ers fan, especially if Fields and Jones are lighting it up elsewhere.
Been thinking that for awhile now seems like when they missed out on Stafford they decided to make damn sure no one jumped them and stole their guy again

You said we shouldn't take him with our 1st round pick tho?
My point was trade up to #3 and massive draft capital. He's a legitimate player staying put at #12. He's better than Jimmy G right now. We didn't have to give up anything.
No no no....no backtracking. I mean hell,..I've always been very hard on Lynch due to lack of experience,...but I'm not gonna sit and pretend like I've had a better clue on things than he has all along. My problem is him learning on the fly. No clue how and why posters get a kick out of pretending like they knew what's what all along.
So here's the deal: If Lynch and Shanny cant go back in time and change their choices,....then neither can you while here on a messageboard. Does that sound fair?
And the trade had happened way before those April conversations. They were done. You clearly were saying predraft that you didn't see the point in drafting Mac with our #3, as he'd pretty much be another Jimmy.
After his 1st game it was clear to me that he's not just another Jimmy.
But now that Jimmy's been more exposed for what he is and Mac is on the upswing, your tune is changing. Clearly. It's all cemented in your posting history,...just admit it.

I said originally I wasn't high on trading tons of picks and moving up to #3. I was fine with staying put, giving up no draft capital and picking him #12.
He's better than Jimmy G and Trey both as of right now. For now he's the best QB in the class. I'd be glad to have him.

I'm not talking about what you originally said,...i'm talking about when the draft was almost upon us and you said what you said in the posts above: No Mac @ #3 when we already have Jimmy. Please don't redefine your point when it's in black and white with your own words for everyone to see.
That's what you said and you've switched to something else now with the advantage of the future being upon us. You would've taken Mac @ #3, right? You've been screaming that he's the best QB in the draft for weeks now, so I take that to mean yes.
Well all 32 teams would like to go back in time and reselect players,...but it's just not possible.
So I just don't know why page after page, spotting out rooks playing good and crying about how "we could've had them" is worthy of discussion.

Yeah, you should have seen him in college...... he was literally off the charts.
In fact....he broke several all time passing records....and get this....he did it in the SEC, not some stud that some how ended up division 3. He was setting records in the closest thing to the NFL you can get, before getting into the NFL.

No. Being a drunk driver, dressing in blackface, playing with a limitless supply of weaponry @ Bama, and twisting guys ankles are all fair game reasons to not like him as well. Saying it's only because of mobility is simply not true.
blah blah blah blah blah

ND State is division 2.

You're lying/twisting the truth, as you obviously have a problem with timelines. Those comments I quoted you on were in April,...way after the trade. How can we stay put if the trade had been made long ago? Your point was clear predraft in April: No Mac @ #3 because he'd be another Jimmy.
Those were your words,...not mine.
Headcoaches and GMs don't get to play around and act dense with timelines the way you are allowed to here on a messageboard. For them and for other legit draft gurus that are worthy of back and forth with, they recognize that what's done is done and don't try to go back in time and change what they really thought or said.
If you love Mac so much now, do 1 simple thing: ADMIT YOU WERE WRONG.

Already responded. Read the threads. You are just wasting time now. I'm not responding to you anymore. This is ridiculously redundant at this point.

i was being snarky..... i had no intention of slighting Trey Lance, and intended no correlation.
We have seen some epic pass always offenses from small schools, that was the correlation i was aiming for.

Yes, Mac played in the best conference in college football. However, keep in mind he was going up against the best of the best in practice every day. On draft day my thinking was Shanahan is supposed to be the QB whisperer. Why mortgage the future on a Division 2 QB that has not gone up against top competition. Fields and Mac were more ready, plain and simple.

You'll never get to me to agree it was a mistake to get rid of Trent Brown, nope.
