Basically anyone with okay skills would be looking pretty good in New England right now. Line is great. Tight ends they basically have two very good starter types. Backs are good. Coaching is off the charts good. Not too hard to look solid in that environment. Consider the division as well where they have yet to face the Bills and have already faced the Jets twice. That fact that he can command an NFL huddle and hold his own is commendable. Good release, quick to get it out once he makes his mind up. To be honest I think he projects as a future Jimmy G type. Good solid starter with a quick unload time. Pocket passer. Not going to make off schedule plays or extend a whole bunch with his legs. The ceiling to me seems much higher on the other rookies. If the Pats called today to swap Mac for Lance, Lynch just laughs and hangs up.
The dominant Patriots offensive line that is carrying Mac Jones to success is No. 19 in pass block grade (#13 in Pass Block Win Rate)
— Computer Cowboy (@benbbaldwin) November 16, 2021
The awful Bears offensive line that is preventing Justin Fields from having a chance is No. 20 in pass block grade (#14 in Pass Block Win Rate)
Remember this is a run first club. Damien Harris and Stevenson both physical runners. Club is top 10 ranked in rush attempts and rush touchdowns. More built to road grade than pass pro imo. When you are running often it can take heat off the QB as dline isn't just pinning their ears back play after play. Coming into the season PFF had this ranked as the #3 offensive line in football. Good points regarding the injuries I believe you mentioned that prior that certainly plays a role.

Imagine if NE had a QB that was at least a running threat. The running game would be even more effective.

Correct. Fields impact on the Bears run game has been impressive. That said you can win both ways. The GOAT is certainly not a scrambler.

He may flop or he can be off the charts good. We don't know yet. Jones on the other hand is playing every game and doing alright. Nothing spectacular, much like Jimmy G.
He's more accurate than Jimmy G already as a ROOKIE! Watch the games! He is spectacular for a ROOKIE. In that context he is.

I'm not sure what games you're watching but they really are doing all they can to not really lean on Mac. They are run heavy. Play solid D and special teams. They are getting back to the 2001-2003 Patriots era. In part it's because they don't really have the receivers to air it out. The throws are pretty simple to the backs, tight ends, and he's handing off more often than not. Let's pump the brakes on the Mac to HOF express here.

We skipped over him, just as you said you would've if you were picking @ #3 for us. He was too much like Jimmy for the #3 spot (your words,...not mine).
With how your opinion ebbs and flows like the tide,...I don't think you're gaining too many 'believers' on your stance by repeating it every couple days. Those that believe that are still in that camp, and those that do not aren't being swayed by you continuing to repeat this.
I simply said I didn't want to trade tons of picks to move up to #3. I was fine to stay put and pick Mac Jones. We would have come out better. While not giving up massive draft capital. That's a win and a win.
This is untrue. The trade was in the past. You can't stay put if the trade has already happened over a month ago, so that's not your 1-liner to sliver out of it.
You said you didn't want to take him @ #3 because you felt he wasn't worth a #3 pick when we already had Jimmy. You would've taken someone else at #3, and I've already quoted you on it.
I read san diegos post and he's right. He didn't want to trade that draft capital for Mac Jones, which all of us felt. He said nothing untrue.
That is correct.

Well to be fair Ryan Leaf also threw touchdowns and won games. Let's not get ahead of ourselves when we are like halfway through a rookie campaign and Lance hasn't even gotten started yet.

What an absolutely moronic comparison. You said it man, not me!
Mac is light years better than Trey at this point... David I have no idea what football league you're watching but in the NFL Treys not even good enough to get 5 plays a game.
This is true.

How does he stack up against QB's of his draft class, incomplete. If he were a later round draft pick it would be fine, but he's not. Watching Mac and Fields progress rapidly opens the question did the 49ers make the wrong pick.
As of now it looks bad.

Nope. Realize I think Hoyer is the other option beyond Mac in New England. Lance would be starting if they had drafted him in New England just like Mac is. Mac would be benched in SF. In fact, Lance at least has gotten some work on the field when JG starts. The Trey package. There would be no Mac package. His skills don't really warrant having a package.

I'd rather have the Trey package just be the regular offense

I imagine there will be many years of this.
