At this point it seems Kyle's initial instincts were correct. Mac is looking better and better each week whilst Trey sits on the bench collecting dust. At this rate Belichek looks like a genius sitting pat in the draft and letting Mac fall into his lap. Meanwhile we traded our soul away to draft a project at number 3.

That's fair. We've also seen a lot of young QBs play decent only to regress down the road too.
I think tossing out names like Brees/Brady/Montana is also pretty silly as well. I've watched damn near all his games this yr and the scheme has made life pretty great for him. Guys open constantly underneath and he has no problem checking it down all game. He's played in pretty ideal situations when they won. I feel like a good portion of NFL QBs can make the throws he's made and given the team around him it's made life easy. Which is a good thing for a rookie. That's not Mac's fault I get that. But let's add some context to it all and look at all the throws. I know people will do that with Lance in here.
I've also seen some great touch passes (which we all knew he had) and for the most part he's been good vs the blitz. He's got grit and isn't dumb that's for sure. BUT again I'm more than fine with who we have and where he can go if it all works out.

Mac would be collecting dust all the same in SF....Jimmy was gonna be the starter no matter who they drafted. Why do people pretend that's not the truth of it.

I'm a big believer in making my judgment after 3 years. And as we have seen with Jimmy G you give DCs time to pick apart a "limited" QBs film they may be able to construct a gameplan/blueprint that slows or stops said QB. We saw it with Goff. The Dolphins just out a blueprint out on how to stop Lamar Jackson.

Mac Jones fans can brag about him all they want but the real story in NE is Belichick. Two years removed from losing Brady he's got the defense playing at a very high level so the offense doesn't need to do a whole lot. He's managed to do this without a lot of highly prized drsft picks. He just knows how to coach them up and designs plans that take away the other teams weapons. Without question, the best defensive coach ever.

Just because he's limited athletically doesn't mean he's anywhere close to his ceiling. That's just plain stupid talk.
He's off the charts with accuracy, leadership, preparation, anticipation. You win Super Bowls with those traits. Not by completing 50% of your passes but hitting 2 or 3 big plays a game. Those plays are t there in the playoffs and super bowl
He is not off the charts with accuracy...I've watched every damn game and there's a bunch of floaters that bounce off defenders hands all the same. I agree he does have great anticipation and pre snap knowledge. If he didn't play at Bama you wouldn't give a flying s**t about him.
You win the SB any damn way you can...a lot of time it's because of defense and not the QB. We literally lost the SB because of that lol.

If Belichick spent this kinda money when Brady was there he would have never left.

NE got back a ton of players that sat out last yr because of COVID and NE spent like $200M on players this off season. That OL is still the tits. I watch Jones stand there and go through progressions plenty.
I will give him credit for knowing where to go with the ball and throwing with touch. I will say he's been pretty decent vs the blitz as well. In his wins he's been in some valuable situations, much like Jimmy in 2019.
End of the day where a young QB gets draft is so important...toss him in NJ or DET and we're not talking about him. That can be said for any rookie QB not just him.

Probably true but it may have just gotten to the point where the marriage was broken. It happens.

Mac Jones is doing exactly what his draft profile said he would.
He is NFL ready and has a high floor.
The question for people hunting SBs is whether Mac can get the win against a playoff caliber D.
Kirk Cousins (a Mac Jones comp) makes the playoffs with nice stats and then hits a wall every year
The next 4 games will be a good test

My point is you've given him 0 chance to be successful because of this imaginary ceiling. You've laughed off him ever winning a superbowl. That's not reality. They are probably one of top 4 teams in the afc.

You were talking about size and arm strength. Both are very comparable.

Montana was pretty athletic for a QB back then and had a better arm. Mac is Chad Pennington, he will have a decent career but nothing great.
