Mac reminds me more of Montana.
You were talking about size and arm strength. Both are very comparable.
Montana was pretty athletic for a QB back then and had a better arm. Mac is Chad Pennington, he will have a decent career but nothing great.
Oh ok. lol. What are the lotto numbers? I'm not saying Mac will be anyone but himself. I'm not comparing careers. Only physical traits.
Despite his performance on the field, Montana was not rated highly by most scouts. At one combine, Montana rated out as six-and-a-half overall with a six in arm strength, used to judge how hard and how far a prospect could throw the ball. By comparison, Jack Thompson of Washington State rated an eight, the highest grade among eligible quarterbacks.
Throw Power (6.25/10) Jones demonstrated at his pro day that he has NFL range. His throw power is solid, but his arm strength is not. Jones could not "rope" the ball past 15 yards downfield, and that is scary. Even the mid-range throws looked like they needed extreme torque from Jones to get it to the target on time. That raises potential elbow and shoulder injury concerns long term.
There situations are also very similar. Joe played in the perfect system for his abilities. Same for Mac. Both coached by HOFers.
I'd say that's a pretty good comparison.

I was wrong on the close game part.
But the yardage and turnover projections are pretty darn spot on!

I was expecting another game of 3 pass TDs and 40+ points considering the Falcons are bottom four in scoring and pass defense.

We will learn a great deal about him in his next 4 games.

Mac is good but I think last night showed why the 49ers and Bears went for upside. He cant get away from pressure. He often makes up for it with his mind but he isnt dynamic at all. Pats are the absolute perfect place for his skillset. Great coaching ,short quick passes, quick reads, accurate and good decision maker backed by a top flight defense and rushing attack. Jimmy G 2.0. He is going to have a gooood career in New England.

Did anyone see that QB sneak? The man needed a yard he went like damn near 5 yards untouched. On a QB sneak. Atlanta D is soft as a roll of TP. The good kind.

This is the stupidest, laziest comparison of all time.
numbers are there in abundance. Wildly disparate backgrounds have been described in vivid terms.
Mac Jones is the captain checkdown the "we want carr" crew always dreamed of. He's never really faced any challenges and has never demonstrated any ability to fight back from adversity. He's played from ahead his entire life and career.
Garoppolo over achieved his way into the NFL playing for Eastern Illinois and has demonstrated grit and determination throughout his football career. f**k all that though, the numbers themselves are convincing: Mac Jones is mediocre and Garoppolo is really f'ing good.
Y'all are a f'ing joke with this garbage!

You keep lying about Lance not learning the playbook....stop lying.
Kyle literally said this week that Lance knows the playbook and has since TC. He just hasn't been given the reps needed with the 1st string offense to run the damn plays.
McCorkle would be sitting on the butt bench all the same if he went to SF.
Lance was never going to start YR1 unless Jimmy got massively hurt...this wasn't a secret and Kyle said it over and over and over since day 1....only person lying is you buzzy.
The part that remains unsaid is that FO would love for Garoppolo to have a good year so they can reap more in trade for him in the offseason. Consequently, Jimmy will have to mess the bed in a big way for Lance to replace him. As long as JG is playing the way he has the past two games, Lance will have to become Superman in practice for Kyle to sit Jimmy. The perfect scenario would be for the 49ers to go deep in the playoffs and JG becomes worth 2 2nds.

When I watch Mac Jones I see a younger JG. I don't care about stats since every game is different and circumstances often dictate how many yards and the type of throws. He's a game manager that is accurate and seems to make good decisions.
If that's all Kyle wanted then he wouldn't have moved up to take Trey. He knows he can win with Jimmy but he wanted something more. The situation is much different in NE. Bill has nearly always won because of his defense. Even when Brady was there, it was usually the defense that starred. His best players were mostly on defense. Brady often got the ball back with a short field and didn't have to come from way behind very often. If the Niners had drafted Jones, Im pretty sure he would still be watching from the sidelines. Putting him in to replace Jimmy wouldn't really make a huge difference in the offense.

The main reason their defensive numbers are so bad is that without Ridley and Julio their offense is terrible. The defense is on the field all the time.
