Winning? Not likely. Hard to Quantify how much better/worse he'd be playing.

He'd have better stats than now because he'd be throwing more because he wouldn't be winning. While also having better weapons in NYJ and CHI. And if ETN and Chark was healthy then Jax too would have better weapons

His game would help mitigate the bad and Middle of the road OLs they have like he is doing with NE.

So to me, not winning would likely be the only difference.

If you're not winning, 200 pass yards and a turnover or two every game suddenly doesn't look so hot.

Yeah you're right that was great footwork...he totally stepped into that throw and didn't throw off his back foot. f**king clean pocket and he throws a duck into double coverage.

I thought he had some nice touch throws and mentally is more pro-ready than all the rookies...that wasn't some shocking thing and was discussed in here...the fact that you can't admit a terrible throw (which happens every week) shows you can't have a legit convo nor do you want too regarding him.

Relax. I was laughing at this post.

And then the following post lol

That was a bad throw. And Mac would agree because he was heated right after. Even though they won in a shut out, you can tell Mac wasn't happy with himself. I like that in a QB. He is striving for excellence. hopefully, our QB is the same whenever he hits the field.

Honestly - did you foresee the pats being 7-4 at this point in time? Even with all those "star" acquisitions and returning players that some are raving about now? lol

Probably will call me a liar, but yes. They went 7-9 last year, with a lot of injuries, covid stuff with Cam and other players, and some very close loses. That defense was already good, it got even better this offseason. I am not at all surprised at how good the defense has been.

Would they be 7-4 with Hoyer? No. You still need a decent QB there. He's been game managing well enough, and BB and McDaniels are two of the best, if not the best DC/OC combo.
This all speaks to the greatness of Belichick. He knows that defense wins championships. All he needs is a QB that will play within McDaniel's system. He got that in Jones, and as Jones continues to improve, the Patriots will be a fixture in the playoffs.

It will be interesting to see what Jones does in the offseason. I read a recent quote that he knows what his body looks like. The context leads to, "I need to make some changes." As he replaces baby fat with muscle, his game will improve. There is no reason he cannot improve his arm strength which will only make him more of a threat than just a game manager (although he is more than just that now).

That's fair.

I didn't think last years Patriots was very good. Moreso on the offensive side. And the off-season acquisition didn't really move the needle for me oher than Henry. So, I didn't see their record dramatically improving with a rookie QB at the helm. And they already have the same amount of wins as last year.

But I guess, other posters must be more surprised than me. Considering that they are doing this with a fat, noodle armed QB that was going to get exposed badly.

Mac Jones can throw touchdowns and win games for ANY team.

That throw was the one thing that bothered me with Mac coming out. In watching the JTO & Tim Jenkins videos those are the bad throws he consistently made. Where he tries to look off the safety and throws blind not realizing that him looking away brings the backside corner into play by leaving their man. They broke that down on their takes and surprised this is the 1st one his year. I guess that's a good thing though.

i say this without any replay and going by what I think I saw live.

That's interesting. Thanks for the info. I don't remember hearing that before the draft.

Mac looked visibly pissed afterwards and even after the win. Mac's strive for perfection should bode well for him going forward.

I remember reading about how Walsh would put Joe in situation that was not very uncomfortable for him, and call plays that would be ez for Joe to execute... and yes, this is what I see the Patriots doing w/their young QB..

#2 pick in a redraft.

This woulda been great because in that case, we didn't pass on him and he's still not here.

We purportedly should've had Fields in that scenario. Out of Fields, Wilson, and Lance, who will come out as the best?

You have already made up your mind on who, and that's fine, but alot of others are willing to wait and see development.
