Sure if you can make a winning season averaging 14 points a game….

A heck of a lot of games can't be won hoping for a 50+ yard scamper to push the points scored to 14 and that be enough.

If I recall correctly, we mainly wanted to replace Jimmy because he couldn't stay healthy. His play was not the reason.

Though a lot of posters, myself included , wanted more deeper balls and passes outside the numbers and Jimmy is doing that this year. As is Mac.

So this version of Jimmy G isn't a bad thing IMO

Good point.

Except it wasn't. Jimmy was replaced for both reasons. If the only reason to replace Jimmy was because of his health, then why not take Mac and save 2 first round picks? He's pretty much a Jimmy clone. If Kyle loves these Jimmy type of QBs that much, there's no reason to take Lance...I think it's pretty obvious for most that Kyle wanted a QB who go out there and big make plays, and hopefully stay healthy.

At the time the trade was made, it was clear that JG's health was a major consideration. As to the trade-up, a good case was made for the fact that 3 was the only place they could go to make sure they had multiple choices. The Jets weren't giving up their spot. Chicago clearly was in the market. It was all about who would be willing to give Miami the most for their pick. The FO was clearly afraid if they didn't go to 3, someone else would and they would have the 5th choice at 12. It was not just about Lance at that point. Lance came more into focus later.

"It was clear" that it was a "major concern" is kinda hearsayish, dont you think? I mean it gives a painfully EASY OUT to to the HC to tell to his QB that he intends to keep if he doesnt get a good offer before the season.

"It's not You Jimmy, We Love You, It's Just Your Health Man...."

Meanwhile, some of has watched his on-and-off inconsistency throughout his time here, him being reduced to a hand-it-off QB for a HC desperate to get to the SuperBowl with the best team in the league, questionable offseason habits (it's his business but we sure as heck have seen OTHER QBs busting their humps all offseason), and coming out in 2020 picking up right where he left off from a disappointing Super Bowl,...which is @ a Subpar Level.

Soooo.... subtract ALL of the INJURIES,...add in ALL of the INCONSISTENCIES when the run game and D isint all that great (and even sometimes when it is),...and I think what you'll find is a HC finally giving up his stubborn ways regarding collecting QB talent. I mean he decided he can wear that badge of honor @ the RB position, but was finally desperate to get a top flight guy in here, somehow, some way. He's learning on the job in some ways and it's clear. Better late than never.

Why does all Mac's interviews look like he is reading off a script? I don't know if it's his posture, Nerves or both but it just seems rehearsed like he is trying to remember his lines.

This is all a rehash of OLD ground. I will leave it that if JG had been healthy in 2020, and played at the same level he did in 2019, Trey Lance would not be in the picture.

He's healthy this year and hasn't played at that level. So, lot of IFs in your post.

Probably coaching, and image shaping. He does not strike me as particularly intelligent. I get he is football smart, but he has made questionable decisions in the past. More frat boy then debate team. He probably is trying to stay on message and it comes out like talking points. Could be the team, of even some personal marketing people trying to keep him on message.

Nowadays even fringe athletes have their own "personal" brand they need to cultivate and grow.

i had a friend of a friend that was a 10k a fight guy in the UFC, even that guy had marketing people…

Go watch Bradys part interviews with the pats. This is how they funnel information out. The kid graduated with a masters degree.

Intelligent in reference to other NFL players? Average folks? MIT scientist?
And he's been way past fringe athlete for 2 years now. Starting qb for Alabama on to the Patriots…. Doesn't get any more high profile.
Blowing all other rookie qbs out of the water.
