Because he's linked to Trey Lance and people here can't stand the thought that Jones could end up being a better draft pick. So far, he is, especially when you consider what we gave up for Trey.

That all can change though.

I think he had a solid rookie season, he had a slump but that is not uncommon as teams get more tape on rookies.

i think he will have a successful career - not sure about him being a top QB, but will be above average. He is pretty limited physically (arm strength etc), but that can be worked on. Brady's arm became way better as his career went on as he worked/trained his ass off.

The term ceiling was placed before Lance and Jones. Lance has the high ceiling and Jones the lower one. The only thing for certain is that Jones has a year of reps and Lance a few quarters. I know many say that you can't evaluate a pick until 3 years. The only problem with that reasoning is the NFL has fast forwarded to a win now at all cost league. As far as the Niners are concerned if Lance shows promise after 3 years the window for this team may be almost closed.
