Very fair comparison. Mullens biggest issue (IMO) was turnovers at inopportune times. Mullens could move ball down the field then BAM!

So far this year Mac is doing exactly that.
This guy is mediocre at best. His issue was a limited ceiling. Last year was his ceiling.

Meh! Last year he had decent oc No real weapons. He gets a decent weapon and lose OC.

Trevor Lawrence sure is looking a world apart from west he looked like last year. This year he has weapons and OC.

Bottom line is Mac was tailor made for Kyle's offense and with the weapons we have here who knows how high his ceiling could have been.

Even with what all of that he has still looked better than Mediocre as you say.
Mac has a great first half of his rookie year, so so 2nd half, and has had a really bad start to this season. There's no way to sugar coat it.

Sounds like a potential high ankle sprain?

Bottom line is you were exactly on par with this assessment like your Fournette assessment

Whether Trey realizes his potential or not, it's becoming quite clear that the 49ers made the right choice not drafting Mac.

That may well prove to be the case, however, losing McDaniels and replacing him with Matt Patricia is not helping that offense at all.

The point is the ceiling for both players. Mac Jones' ceiling under Shanahan is Jimmy Garoppolo, so it wouldn't have made sense. Lance's floor might be lower, but his ceiling is far higher. You have to try and open up the offense to its max potential with a guy like Lance. Its just a shame that Kyle is clueless on how to integrate a young QB in a way that keeps him healthy and builds confidence.

It has been noted before that Kyle has never been the guy responsible for developing a QB. The closest he came was with RGIII but Sean McVay was the QB coach that year.

My hope is that Kyle will let Brian Griese do his work to improve Garoppolo and develop Purdy to a level that he can fill JG's shoes next season after Jimmy is gone elsewhere.
Goo luck with the injury Mackie J!! Alot of 49ers fans here are pulling for ya!
Said it over and over... wait for a seasons worth of games on tape... then youll know how good a QB is. I think it was a zoner who posted a video on how he sucks throwing into man coverage, obviously an NFL D coordinator will pick that up too. Chad Pennington 2.0.

What was the Fournette assessment? He's good, tho he had some motivation issues in Jax is what I hear.

He's looked like dogsh*t this year. What are you talking about? You want a QB that cant beat man coverage to replace another QB that cant throw outside to save his life?

Shanny needs someone who can threaten deep. That definitely aint Mac, he has been terrible this year compared to any expectation that he isnt a game manager.

His numbers look like dog s**t but I wouldn't say he's layed like it. Aside from Steelers game. That was horrendous.

Most of his ints were throwing it up to Parker wanting him to win one on one. Which really hasn't happened aside from last game .

You're saying HE can't beat man coverage. There was a stat I seen where NE last year had the least amount of separation in entire league. That makes it harder to complete passes versus one on one doesn't it? Also been stated he has no freedom to change anything at the LOS last year or this year up to this point. One of his strengths coming out.

Again he hasn't been great and you can't be turning the ball over. But he hasn't been horrible either. Aside from Pittsburgh game.

No matter what you think of him. The 9ers would still be better off with him over Jimmy or Trey.

The one thing Trey had on Mac was his running ability. Now the zone don't want him to run. So if we don't want our QB running give me the better passer. Which was my stance from the very beginning. For what Mac is or isn't he is still a better QB than Trey. We are still hoping Trey gets to Mac's level. A guy that gets mocked around these parts but we were HOPING Trey reached his level this year. Now in Trey's 3rd season we STILL will be HOPING Trey reaches Mac's level as a passer.

Which is ironic, NE has taken away one of Mac's strengths (his mind) by not allowing him to adjust at the LOS. Shanny was playing to Trey's strengths (running) now the board wants to take away Trey's strength (running) and play to his weakness.

None of it makes any sense.

DISCLAIMER: didn't watch MiA game. So only two games I seen was Pitt and Balt.

You can't turn ball over in this league.
