I equate it to Andy Reid hiring Juan Castillo as a defensive coordinator even though he hadn't coached defense in 20+ years (for a HS team even at that). Horrific hiring decisions.

Fact is, he's consistently regressed since midway of last year. The book is out... stuff the run, he can't throw deep so sit on the short routes. 40 year old Robbie Gould probably doesn't practice tackling that much, but we've seen him make some on kickoffs before when he was the last line of defense. Like QBs, kickers aren't expecting to have to make a tackle, but sometimes that's what happens. Mac Jones is also a 220 LB athlete, he's not that small.
