You never want to waste a 1st round pick on a guy with such limited ceiling like McCorkle especially those with a weak arm.
Guys like his backup Zappe, Mills, and Mike White are equivalent to him and can be easily be found in the later rounds and come with even more college experience.

Pats are a good enough team for any above average QB to make the playoffs with but McCorkle has been awful this year and is only getting worse as teams realize he can't throw that far due to a weak arm. Stop the checkdowns and limit their running game and it turns into an easy win for the other team.

Also what top elite WR is going to come to play with McCorkle? Their stats are not going to be great and they will lose money when their next contract is due. They won't pick high enough to get elite talent at that position so they can't really improve. Their oline, run game, and defense is solid. McCorkle holds them back.

Pats fans are currently chanting for Zappe to come in the game.

If his only good qualities are read, accuracy, and throwing with anticipation, then I would take Purdy with the same traits with more arm strength, mobility, athleticism, quickness, pocket awareness, and moxie.

Purdy is showing us alot when people are picking the last guy in the draft over the rest of the qb rookie class and some vet NFL QBs also.

He's still a meh qb to me, but he's being done zero favours in NE.
