I wouldn't draft him based on that outfit.

Those pictures don't scream face of the franchise to you?

I think he's got a punchable face
I just watched film on him for the first time today. I got to say, I came away extremely impressed with him. Add my name to the hype train. His QB awareness was what impressed me the most. He sees the field extremely well, can go through his progressions, and makes sound decisions with the football. More impressive was his pocket awareness. He seemed to know exactly where the pressure was coming from and when he needed to slide to buy more time and when the ball needed to come out of his hands. He throws a very accurate deep ball. I think he has the arm talent needed to make the throws at the next level. He is also an extremely good fit for Shannahan and this offense.

What is the downside of Mac Jones? That he is not a super athlete and will never be a running QB? That he played on an extremely loaded football team? You can't fault him for having a good team.

I don't like to compare anyone to the GOAT, but I see a lot of Tom Brady in him. I think he has a very low bust potential and a much higher ceiling than many people seem to think.. Honestly, I think Mac Jones would be an absolute steal at #12. After watching him I am starting to think he won't be there when we pick at 12.

Projected top 10 pick now no way he falls to 12

Hearing he's a great fit for Panthers to run that Joe Burrow offense since they have some LSU coach running offense now

I don't think so either. Even if the Panthers didn't draft him, I think another team will try to jump ahead of us and take him. So I think if we want him we are going to have to try and move up for him. I am pretty sure I am going to be drooling about the scenario of us landing him at 12 come draft day though lol.
I think Mac can beat out Jimmy right now. Crazy, I know, but dude is so surgical with execution that he'd beat Jimmy by virtue of being able to run the offense better.

Nothing has changed for me. I like the other guys(love Zach Wilson), but I don't see Shanahan passing on this dude at 12 if they resign Trent Williams. It'll be like the Deebo pick in 2019 where everyone saw it coming. I'm not a big fan of taking him at 12, but he's not going to be available much longer after that. And ultimately, if he is who we think he is, it won't matter because the dude will ball out in this offense.

I kind of chuckle when I see people talk about "well maybe the 49ers will trade down so some other team can trade up for Mac Jones." In many ways he's the prototypical Shanahan QB. If he's there at #12, then I think they would absolutely give him strong consideration.

I highly doubt that he beats him as a rookie, we have all seen even very good and experienced QB's struggle in the 1st year of a Shanahan offense.

Also this guy had complete command of his college offense having sat for 3 years, he won't have that.

He processes really well, but it's a lot easier when half the time you're just checking to see if they've bracketed Devonta Smith.

I think he's the most pro ready QB in the class, but it's so hard to come in and play we'll as a rookie. Year 2 and 3, I think he'd be very good for us.

However I also think that Lance and Fields would about as good by Year 2 and then better by Year 3.

I'm warming up to him as well. I just have a bit of a hard on for making/extending plays with his legs but I'm good with a qb like Mac as long as he's a Matt Stafford/Matt Ryan type performance wise. That will be enough for us to win 1 or 2 SB's in the next decade with Shanahan, Bosa and Warner on D and everyone else on offense.

Well let's look at the other positions. in the top 11 I am expecting 2 WR's, 2 Linemen, 2 Corners, and 1 TE to be taken. That's 7 off the board. I am expecting 4 QB's to be taken before Jones. So Jones could very well be there at 12.

Chase
Smith
Sewell
Slater
Pitts
Surtain
Farley

Those 7 players could all be taken before the Niners pick which leaves atleast one of those top 5 QB's available for the Niners and I would be ok with any of them. Do we see any of those players I mentioned dropping to 12? On the positive side, if 5 QB's do go before the Niners pick they will get one of those elite talents. And I would be thrilled with any one of those 7 if we miss out on the QB.

He'd beat out jimmy because Jimmy would be hurt by the first pre season game

I'm becoming an even bigger fan now. He's got the Manning face down. Just gonna need him to be the Peyton version in the regular season then switch to the Eli version in the playoffs.
I can't state enough how much I don't want Jones but I'll happily eat crow if he turns out great. I so prefer Fields or Lance especially Wilson who we won't have a shot

Fields and Wilson are out of our range - Jones should be there at #12.
Mark my words. Mac Jones will go top 10.
