Probably, will.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's the 3rd QB come off the board.

Mmm, 3rd? That'd mean Fields or Lance maybe falls to us.

If I was a bettor and there was a prop bet for him to be the 3rd QB taken, which i'm sure there is, i'd take it.

looks like he's a +650 to be 3rd QB taken. Any bettors out there, you're welcome.

I think Mac can beat out Jimmy right now. Crazy, I know, but dude is so surgical with execution that he'd beat Jimmy by virtue of being able to run the offense better.

Nothing has changed for me. I like the other guys(love Zach Wilson), but I don't see Shanahan passing on this dude at 12 if they resign Trent Williams. It'll be like the Deebo pick in 2019 where everyone saw it coming. I'm not a big fan of taking him at 12, but he's not going to be available much longer after that. And ultimately, if he is who we think he is, it won't matter because the dude will ball out in this offense.

I highly doubt that he beats him as a rookie, we have all seen even very good and experienced QB's struggle in the 1st year of a Shanahan offense.

Also this guy had complete command of his college offense having sat for 3 years, he won't have that.

He processes really well, but it's a lot easier when half the time you're just checking to see if they've bracketed Devonta Smith.

I think he's the most pro ready QB in the class, but it's so hard to come in and play we'll as a rookie. Year 2 and 3, I think he'd be very good for us.

However I also think that Lance and Fields would about as good by Year 2 and then better by Year 3.

QB's usually struggle a little year 1 under Shanny, but he also dumbs down the offense some to let them adjust. Jimmy went on a long winning streak and barely knew anything. I'm sure Shanny would do the same that he did with RG3 and make the necessary adjustments to keep a successful offense on the field as his new QB learns the real system. Mac is also highly intelligent and a film room junkie, so I bet he learns the offense quicker than Jimmy did.

If we select him, he's going to be our day 1 starter. You can bet that. Lynch will have a trade in place for Jimmy before day 2 of the draft begins.

I can dig it - I'd love to get Jones, like you said a film junkie that will learn the offense rapidly.

I think you're right, and it scares the hell out of me. A dumbed down offense run by a smart but limited QB? No thanks.

My point is that by the time I think Mac is actually successful, year 2 or 3, I think the other QB's we'd have passed on because they aren't as good year 1, would then be better than him.
Anyone know who he's training with?

I know Fields and Wilson are working together with train3DQB and Joe Beck.

Lance has been working with Quincy Avery and QB takeover or about 5 months (tightening up that release)

agreed. QBs are investments, they shouldn't be looked at as what they can do day 1 but what the could be in yr 3. Keep Jimmy on the team for a yr and go get Lance/Fields and let them learn for a yr or so.

So you are saying Mac is more ready now but wont be successful until year 2 or 3. Yet the guys whom you would think needs the offense "dumbed down" even more will be better than him by the time he's successful.

Or those guys might be another Mariota/Winston type bust. None of us know how any of these guys will turn out. You call Mac limited, but being an elite athlete isn't a requirement for a QB, it's just a helpful tool if combined with the real skills you need to be successful at the position. Shanny has had success with guys like Mac. He values IQ and accuracy over athleticism.

2021 I see us competing for a playoff spot with Jones starting, and then in 2022 we really take off having loads of cap space with the salary cap going back up and many bad contracts gone from the team, allowing us to attack free agency, which should be loaded since many guys will sign 1 year deals when 2021 free agency begins soon.

Lol I know he has Brady like film room work ethic, but if he gets his body in shape too and let that become his next obsession, it would be big time.
