Yeah they got over $40M in dead money if they move Ryan in 2022.

I think there is slim to no chance they take a QB. Passing the ball was not their problem last year and as you guys said that contract makes it hard to move on to another QB . If Matt Ryan is your QB and you are still drafting 4th in the draft that means your roster is trash.

Because of this I think the Falcons are the first team in the draft to trade back. Defense is still their biggest need and the top players in this draft I think are offensive players. They can trade back get some extra picks and still probably get either there top ranked defensive back or edge rusher. Both are big needs for them.

Eh! Yea I know that's been mentioned before but I believe they still take a QB. With Ryan obviously the QB for 2021.

His contract isn't that hard to get out from under after 2021 IMO.

Just my gut feeling. (My gut has been wrong all off season so there is that)

NY is correct. They have a huge cap hit next year so they are kinda stuck with him it seems.

For 1 year. They can get out after 2021. Yes it's a 40 mil dead Cap. But his cap hit if he stays is 48. So they'd save 8.

And what better time to groom a rookie?

Just adding some truth to all of the silliness. Look if people like Jones for what he brings to the table that's cool. You don't have to poo poo on what NFL teams are currently valuing when picking QBs near the top of the draft now overall.

God given ability matters. You can learn the context of reading coverages pre/post snap. You can learn a playbook. Yes you need to find a guy who's willing to put in the time to do that....also a lot of these QB prospects were just running the offense they were told to run, doesn't make them dumb or incapable of running an offense like Jones did. Herbert/Watson are perfect examples of that...Lawrence didn't run some nuanced offense in Clemson, yet he's going #1 overall and I'm sure people wouldn't be upset in taking him.

Upside matters, what a player can become matters when drafting a guy at the top.

I've said all root for him (or anyone) that SF drafts.

The problem NY is after Jones there is ****ing nothing at QB unless you have us grabbing Watson which is highly unlikely now.

Mond? Trask? Mills? Minshew?

Jones ain't nearly as bad as you are making him out to be. He is worth #12 but I am more than fine trading up for Wilson/Fields if we can. But if we can't and Wilson/Fields/Lance are gone, are you actually saying you wouldn't be happy with picking Jones at #12? Jones is already better than Jimmy lack of God given athleticism or not. Jimmy goes down and our season isn't over if Jones comes in and we very likely get BETTER. Mond/Trask/Mills/Minshew/Mullens.....season is ****ing over. Again.

As a worst case, Jimmy/Minshew/Jones they all battle it out. Hell add Mills too in the 5th. Make Jimmy earn it at least which Jones would make him do. Obv prefer the sexier upside of Wilson/Fields but Jones is not a terrible back up plan in the 1st round if cannot trade up.

I bet this is how the 49er draft board is created. Starts off with the scouts posting videos and the coaches reviewing the videos and a consensus is built after that, and on draft day, ShanaLynch basically executes the coaching staffs game plan.

Reminds me of how Harold Landry became the Webzone darling in 2018.

Yeah, but Bosa is better.

Every time someone brings up Landry, all I think about is how pissed I was that we traded UP for freaking Pettis and wondering why the f**k we couldn't do it for Landry

agree, I was really disappointed they didn't draft Landry. Oh well. But they were able to sign Jimmy to a 5 year contract in 2018 (after a 5-0 2017 run) got Mostert signed up, and drafted Fred. Got rid of Coach Zigonina at the end of that season. It wasn't a total loss, though it was a very painful year. Was able to draft Bosa because of such a crap year. Without Bosa in 2019, I think it's one and done in 2019 vs a super bowl appearance.

Dude I've said over and over I don't want to settle at QB. Imo if we can't get one of the top 4 then just roll with Jimmy. No I do not think he's worth the 12 overall pick and no I don't see him as a top 10 QB in the league...truthfully do you? Do you see him as better than at least 10 other NFL QBs or have the upside to be? I do not.

I do NOT want to spend a 2nd or mid day pick on a QB either...no more 2nd/3rd trier talents at QB. No more wasting a pick on a developmental QB...its hard enough to get a high end talent to become a FQB, you're more than likely just wiping your ass with that pick drafting QB outside of the 2nd.

if they want to throw a late day 3 pick for Minshew fine....it's looking more and more like they want to "run it back" based on how FA is going. I think it's bit of a mistake but what the hell do I know.

Yup if they can trade back and grab Pitts/Surtain or move down a couple times (get future picks) and get an edge guy like Paye...I could see that happening for sure

I'm starting to lean toward NY's thinking on this. If we can't get one of Wilson, Fields or Lance, then don't reach for Jones at #12. Just roll with Jimmy and do this all over again in next years draft.

I honestly think that's what will happen. Who they draft is a mystery lol
