This needs to be written in the other QB threads too . People wanted big moves for a QB... well they just got em.

He has ALWAYS been the perfect QB for Shanahan. Not out of the realm.

If both the 49ers and Falcons had Wilson and Jones as 1,2, since both did a lot of Shanahan-type stuff, then trading ahead of Atlanta is the only way to get one of them.

This smacks of the pick being Jones:

I think in a lot of other drafts Mac Jones would have been a sure top 5. If Kyler Murray can go #1 then Mac Jones is worthy to go top 5 . I didn't expect him to go that high in this draft (still don't) but that doesn't mean he is not worthy of it.

I am with you/ Get your guy. You don't know what other teams value what players at.

My personal list right now is.

1.Wilson
2.Lawrence
3.Fields
4. Jones
5. Lance

But this list is close and I flip-flop on it a lot. I think this is one of the best QB classes in a long time. I Will trust Kyle and be praying whoever he does choose that he is right. I know some people will flip out if they do end up taking Mac. But it is very possible Mac Jones ends up being the best QB in the draft. I truly believe that.

Is Mac Jones worth a top 5 pick? Sure, maybe.

Is the NFL likely to be higher on Mac Jones than the media or you and I? Sure, probably.

But contrary to Simms point, I can't imagine the NFL thinking Mac Jones is worth 3 first round picks, prioritizing his "readiness right now" over the tools of a project.

This is true, but there is a lot of reason to believe Shanahan would do it. First of all, trading all that capital means what you're risking is much, much higher. Shanahan has commented in the past about part of why he didn't take Mahomes is the high risk of a 1st round pick on a QB, because you never know if they'll handle the less tangible aspects of the position. So who is the universally labeled "high-floor" guy? Who is the one least likely to be a bust?

It's Jones.

Add to that the obvious Shanahan QB archetype fit and it makes a lot of sense.

There's no f**king chance this is Mac Jones.

I guess there's a chance of anything happening, but it's about the same chance that I tell my wife that I'd rather not have a blowjob tonight.

If they trade Jimmy before the draft, they're taking Mac.

Another scenario I had in mind is that they trade Garoppolo and then trade for Minshew and have him be the bridge QB for a year while drafting whomever. Save a ton of money at QB right away.
