In fact let me add that I feel embarrassed for you for naively thinking you somehow know more about quarterbacking than a guy who played QB in the NFL for several years. Yeah, he was bad. Compared to Pro QBs. But lots of bad NFL QBs become great coaches, because being able to digest film or understand what you're supposed to do isn't usually enough to be successful.

So yeah, your post was kind of embarrassing. JTO lacked accuracy, he lacked vision, and other important aspects that good NFL QBs have. But understanding quarterbacking theory is not what makes a great QB. There's a different kind of intelligence that makes the difference. A kinetic intelligence. One tied to spatial awareness, anticipation, vision.

JTO may not have had that. But he had several years doing the NFL study gauntlet, and several more in college. The dude knows more about the position than you by a LAUGHABLY large amount.

i hate when people say that about anything

i guess we all can only talk about and join forums of things related to our jobs and education background

Appealing to authority is risky, but that guy didn't say fans know nothing. He said a former NFL QB, "[D]oesn't know s**t."

EDIT - oh and apparently he was joking so now we're all butts of the joke

Nope, lock this b***h up lol

Exactly!

Damn right!

Send him to the Seahawks after Russell Wilson is traded.

The dude will get pancaked by Bosa!

Lol you guys got to come to terms with this.

Alt angle:

I have.

Shanny has finally decided to go mobile with the quarterback position. Our offense is going to be awesome and even more dynamic than before!!

That ain't going to be Mac Jones.

no way they traded all those picks to take a Cousins 2! time to get put of the dark ages and into the new age of Quarterbacking...

That's a RZ pick in the NFL

I can't remember the Kentucky game, but this is a beautiful throw. In fact it's unlike anything I've seen from him and I might have to go back to the tape.

If we take Jones, Kyle and John are definitely controlling their fate and deserve to be canned. Take someone who's a kirk cousins clone when u have dudes with Mahomes, Watson, Jackson, Murray, Wilson etc terrorizing the league lately. I don't think Lynch will go for it if it's Jones anyway. He's still mad he whiffed on Mahomes and Watson and he didn't trade all that draft capital to get a Kirk Cousins type

Agree, that's one good reason that they might *not* pick Mac Jones. The fact that they already have a Mac Jones type on the team in the name of Jimmy. It makes sense to pick a more dynamic QB, like a Mahomes 2.0 in this draft and he will take time to develop, no problem because Jimmy is still on the team with two years remaining on his contract.

The reason I think they might go with Mac Jones is that he's a scheme fit QB, and basically can run the offense like it is because he's so much like a pocket QB like Jimmy. They don't need to change the scheme much for him. Kyle's scheme definitely has to change if a mobile QB is back there, you do want to take advantage of the rookies Mobility if something happens to Jimmy and he has to step in for him.

I like Mac, but Trey and Justin offer much more of a coaching challenge to Kyle because of their dynamic high ceilings and explosive athleticism. (high risk, high reward). I think Kyle is ready for a new challenge. We shall see.

I personally think it's more wishful thinking. I'd give it 90% odds that it's going to be Jones. The upper body torque, the release, the pocket presence, the accuracy, winning with his mind and not his athleticism, all these things scream Shanahan. And in fact, in today's NFL, this kind of QB is rare, which would explain why Shanahan rushed to throw away all those pics to move up.

And I do think it's overpaying. But this is who Shanahan is, and honestly, he'll do great in this system. He really is a system fit. As much as I'd love Wilson, he'll be gone, and while I do like Fields and Lance, neither one of them have that quick processing that Shanahan loves.

So we should all get used to Mac Jones.

Personally I'm fine with Mac Jones and am still on his band wagon, but the other QB's really are also exciting. I still remember how exciting the offenses were with Steve passing and running. I think Pocket QB's like Mac Jones still have a lot of value to offenses and while the rules do favor more mobile QB's, why is it that pocket QB's still win super bowls? I think it's because QB is still about passing and not about running.

I'm still trying to get my mind around the fact that Shanahan just shelled out a ton of draft capital to move up to #3. I'm still in catch up mode with the new QB's that are available now. Having said that, I still lean towards Mac Jones simply because he looks a lot like Jimmy and Jimmy's got us to the big game already once, with Mac Jones backing him up, the offense doesn't have to change much for Mac to take over if Jimmy needs a game or two on the sideline to catch a breath.

Mac is a better processor and down field thrower than Jimmy, and a bit more mobile. It's an upgrade all the way around. Except looks. Jones is a fat blob while Jimmy is finely-chiseled perfection.

But in 2021 it is wise to keep Jimmy and let Mac learn behind him. Until he overtakes him, of course.

NY that's just embarrassing man, you can't look at that and not be the slightest bit impressed.

At that point it's obvious you're just hating.

The counter example to that is that top 5 QB prospects who fit the Shanahan mold are exceedingly rare these days (colleges are fully embracing the dual threat QB), and because of that rarity, when one appears Shanahan would probably trade the farm for him.

They need to get him on a conditioning program and tighten that body up.

Should they though? Jimmy has a right body, and keeps breaking. Jones is nice and soft and pliable. Perhaps the extra cushion will keep him healthy?

One can hope you're right, but he's probably gonna be a Matt Ryan clone if anything.

If Wilson is not there at 3, go Fields/Lance only
