That can't be right, we're drafting Tom Arnold? f**k

Like Starlord.....he's one sandwich away from fat.

krizay, being serious here since you've pretty much been the biggest fan of Mac, what does Mac do that Fields and Lance can't? And do you think Fields/Lance would not have had a great season on that Alabama team? I'm not in any way shape or form taking anything away from Mac with that question because what he did was outstanding and one of the best seasons I've ever seen from a college QB, right there with Burrows. Just looking for discussion because my gut feeling is that I need to start warming up to him being the pick

Jumping in on this one

Fields is a risk when he's under pressure. A qb in a Shanahan's system needs to be cool in the pocket. He doesn't want his qb making plays on 3rd&15 with their legs.

Lance is inexperienced. He is intriguing though and has the upside, the kind you get excited for and blow your wad of firsts for...but I think he needs time to develop. If Jimmy wins (stays healthy) and Lance gets time to learn, I think he's the pick. But I think Shanny thinks Jimmy won't stay healthy. Mac is more "NFL Ready" or whatever.

Thanks for trying but you didn't answer any of my questions, and I disagree with what you said.

Fields is a risk when under pressure? I've seen him escape pressure in ways Mac can't even dream of doing. You haven't watched much of Fields with your "cool in the pocket" statement. That's literally one of the things he's best at and even criticized for LOL. He always looks cool and collected in the pocket and his lack of "panic" sometimes has him hold the ball longer than you want, basically he ain't worried about blitz/pass rush which can be a good or bad thing.

Lance is inexperienced? Is his one season as the starter less than Macs one season as the starter or something? Or are you counting the years that Mac rode the pine behind Hurts and Tua?

No. Brady has some definition. Look at his chest and arrms

Jones has tits and a dunlap.

It's funny how much Jones gets detracted from based on his supporting cast but then some one like Burrows who is very similar was a shoe in as QB1. Burrows also had the top WRs in the nation including the OROY, a great RB and O-line to boot. Speaking of supporting casts... all of the top 5 QBs played for great teams outside of the QB. For f*cks sake the offseason hype-child Lance played for an even more dominant version of Alabama in the FCS. But Jones is the only one getting the knock from it cause he isnt the sexiest pick but the most solid (outside of Lawrence).

This is a tired and stupid argument, I get what is trying to be said, but it doesn't work if comparing Burrow and Mac. Burrow was literally the missing piece that took that team over the top and won the chip. Look at LSUs QBs and record prior to Burrow, with Burrow and now recently without Burrow. Then go look at Alabama with Hurts and Tua. That team was contending AND winning Championships prior to Macs season and I'm willing to bet that they will be this season with that Sophomore QB who was Macs backup.

Agreed. Look at the difference across the shoulders too. Mac n Cheese looks like he had to undo his top button....post Thanksgiving meal. Granted, it has no bearing on his ability to play QB, but c'mon mix in some push-ups and creatine. Lol

I don't think I answered this question in my 1st reply. Yes they probably could have had success with Alabama. But I feel it would have looked more the way of Jalen Hurts than Tua/Mac.

I'd prefer the latter in my QBs in general. Especially, in this offense

Sure, he doesn't need to be a greek god to play QB.....but it might point to a lack of commitment to the game. It's always a red flag when a guy at the combine can't put up as much weight as you expect because it makes you ask how committed he was in the weight room. Hell, even Eli started his career in shape.

Lack of commitment to the game from Jones?
I can obviously give an apparent lack of commitment to the weight room. Not the game!

I think it's a completely legitimate question. You're part of the premier D1 football program in the nation and a supposed leader of the team. Your teammates and busting ass in the weight room every morning at 6 am to get you to a national title.....where were you?

And Hurts and Tua are pretty average quarterbacks in my opinion. If they select this guy, it's a mistake. He's a borderline first rounder. You don't give up what they gave up to draft this guy. lol
