For the record, I don't want them drafting Jones at #3 even though I do like him, but I'd say its about 30% likely given Kyle's preferences.

Basically what you are banking on is that Kyle finally changed his mind and will adjust his system and QB evaluations after getting his ass beat by Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson, and Josh Allen (this season)

When did Kyle ever say that "not mobile" is on his check list?

hes already said Mahomes was a mistake

i think he liked Kirk over RG3 because Kirk appeared to be a much better thrower to him coming from a pro style offense. Not like he saw RG3 could run and was like "f**k that"

fast forward to 2021 and you got mobile QBs that throw just as good as non mobile QBs like Wilson, Murray, Allen, Herbert . It's not like back when the mobile QBs couldn't play in the pocket like Kap, Tebow, RG3.

So of course he's down with A mobile QB as long as they can also do everything the non mobile ones can.

I like Mac Jones a lot, but you gotta be able to move and I'm not sure he'll have the same advantages in the NFL that he had at Bama.

As Kyle has admitted to, times are changing.

From Kyle

"Tom Brady's the best to ever play the game," Shanahan said. "And if he could run and do all that other stuff and still be the same way he is, that would be impossible to stop. The more you can have both, the more things you can do as an offense and the less things the defense can do just having to defend everything."

no more of the Kyle wants statues narrative please

He wants guys that can throw well, play in the pocket and run his offense. If they are also an athlete and can run then absolutely that is a plus.

This draft and QB we select will either end or continue the narrative

That narrative comes from the fact that Kyle said that many times BECAUSE a guy can run he never has to develop the necessary pocket skills. It's not that he's against mobile guys; it's that he believes being mobile can sometimes cause other QB skills to atrophy during development.

So yeah, that doesn't mean he's against mobile QBs. I would say it just means he's skeptical of them unless they show the other traits as well.

This is saying something because Crock wants an athlete at QB too.

Mac needs to sort his dad bod, not because his play on the field but because he needs to win a Superbowl or two in his rookie contract, then marry a Supermodel and take team friendly deals the rest of his career!

Then he'd be worth it.
Didn't we read the Niners are miffed at Alabama for the Reuben Foster disaster and not telling us the truth about him etc? I wonder if there was any truth to that and if it would matter here.

Nah, that dad bod will land him a loyal, boring wife that will keep him straight.

No truth to that.

I think it is safe to say they will consider the source when it comes to Saban's word.

He has to watch our defense try to contain Murray and Wilson fout times per year. None of those games ate easy. As a fan, it's frustrating watching those guy evade sacks and hit a WR as everything breaks down or take off running and convert a 3rd and 12. NFL is changing, sure Brady won the SB but he is the GOAT and exception rather than the rule.

So then you look at the specific player,....yes.

But more times than not,...you take away the running ability from those guys and you had someone that wasn't built to be a pocket passer anyway. This is why evaluation is absolutely critical and we've just gotta trust that the coaches have got it.
