Shanahan's pro day attendance is equally as likely to be a troll job as it is to be a material component of an evaluation.

Then why is he going to Mac Jones' pro day if he already knows who he's taking? What's the point.

1. Wilson
2. Lance
3. Fields
4. Jones

A better version of Jimmy. Another thing that kills me is the reason most people want to get a QB is because Jimmy can't stay Healthy. Not because he sucks or he's not a dual threat. Strictly financial and availability.

So if a healthy Jimmy is completely fine. Then if Mac truly is a healthier, cheaper version, which I believe he'll be more than that. Then what's the problem?

Because a healthier version of Jimmy is not worth it for what we gave up..plus wouldn't you want a superstar QB instead?

Yeah. If Shanahan had already made up his mind, why would he go to any Pro Day? Everyone already knows who the first two picks are going to be. Is Shanahan trying to keep himself from knowing who he's gonna draft?

He went because he needed to see McCorkle up close — because he hasn't decided who he's picking yet.

The fact that he's even in question to be the pick is the problem. f**king gross.

also it is kinda a big deal if he goes, I don't think Kyle has been to a pro day outside of Stanford since being the HC here.

No question. His judgement on QBs is seriously questionable at this point. The fact that this is the first pro day that he's attended in a long time is scary.

I don't think that's fair...look, I'm with you, I want the guy with all the physical tools that Kyle can refine. But the fact that he's going to this pro day means he's scouting the guys—which is what we want him to do.

What I was trying to say in my last post was that Kyle going out there may not be an indication that Mac is a lock, but rather than Kyle needs to see more of him. (Probably because the trade off between his game processing and his physical traits is so extreme.) Kyle has to decide if that trade off is worth it, and I think the reason he's going in person is because he wants to see with his own eyes exactly how limited Mac is

I think it's a smoke screen. If Shanny is gushing over Fields or Wilson you don't think Saleh and the Jets are going to be like hey wait a second. Why is Kyle trading 3 1sts for this guy and we're just passing on him like it's nothing. We have to cover who our man is. So gush over Mac.

Nope his final mock and only mock a week before the draft he had SF drafting OT Josh Jones and trading out of 31.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/04/20/nfl-mock-draft-2020-justin-herbert-tua-tagovailoa-fmia-peter-king/

"Peter King: 49ers 'desperate' for space-eating defensive tackle like Javon Kinlaw

Defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw," writes King in his latest Football Morning in America column. "Another defensive lineman in the first round?!! This sounds crazy, and maybe it is, after all the first-round defensive-line capital the Niners have used up. (Consider Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner, Solomon Thomas, Nick Bosa in the last five drafts.) But I hear the Niners are desperate for a space-eating defensive tackle who can threaten the pocket, and that's what the 315-pound and athletic Kinlaw does."

If they seriously f**king take Jones... this must be what it felt to be a Bears fan hoping for a trade for Russell Wilson and wake up to see that you signed Andy Dalton.

Except worse because we would have traded the cost for Russell Wilson to land a fat Andy Dalton.

agree!

I don't think he's swayed by a pro day, but why is he even attending it? Teams can only have 3 people attend the pro-day and Shanahan hasn't attended any other pro days.

Shanahan (and the FO) likes to troll fans. They attended Mahomes pro day as a head fake.

I'm not saying they're not taking Jones. I'm saying this isn't predictive.

Who are we trying to troll? The Jags and jets are locked in. There's no one to fool, no one is trading up above us to snag our guy

Because he's a troll. He loves this s**t.

Mac Jones better be a smokescreen. I'd easily rather have Jimmy and those 2 future 1sts than Mac Jones.

Like others have said, trading that much for Mac Jones is the was to get canned.

I hope that's true. I really don't think it makes much sense to trade all those picks for the lowest ceiling prospect. But Kyle's the genius, I'm just trying to figure out what the heck he's thinking

f**k that lol.

you want a middle of the road talent at QB you don't move 3 1sts to make it happen. Sorry Im just heated right now with the thought of waiting over 20 yrs to make a bold move like they just did...only for it to be him.

Well he's trolling me pretty good lol.

and no I don't think that's the case, he's not gonna waste his time just to get everyone all hot and bothered.

What makes you say he has the lowest ceiling? Most accurate passer in the draft as well as the best at going thru his progressions. The huge question is how will he play from under center.
