I have never felt more confident about anything in football in saying that there is no world where Mac Jones ends up being worth 3 first round picks.

it doesn't mean he can't be successful, but it does still limit him. Hypothetically, suppose Justin Fields, with his superior arm strength, speed, etc—with the right coaching—were to develop the same accuracy and processing? He'd have a higher ceiling. That's the point.

Let me get this straight. You're gonna be pissed 5 years from now IF Jones is a pro bowl QB and ready to sign his first mega contract extension because Shanahan "over drafted"? What if the other dudes turn out to be complete s**t?

We aren't drafting Big-Mac. I couldn't care less how much he studies or what pro-day Kyle shows up at. He's not good enough to pick at #3, much less trade three draft picks for to do it.

There isn't a coach in the world who is going to look at Wilson, Fields, Lance, and Jones and say...."I want the least gifted player here with the lowest potential."

Coaches have huge egos, they ALL think they can take the five tool player and coach them into a star. None of them think they can teach a guy to throw further, more accurately, or run faster. All of them think they can teach a guy to read a defense and get the ball out faster.

This entire argument for Jones is that he fits some kind of mold for Kyle, but Kyle himself has said he doesn't believe in that mold and he's also not the GM. Lynch has his job on the line with this trade too, he's not going to just sit there and watch as we pick a guy who's never going to be better than an average NFL QB.

It's seems like this might happen and count me as one of the underwhelmed if so. Nothing is certain in the draft until it happens, but trading the farm for someone who seems like at best, a middle to top-third QB prospect is crazy and sad.

Since this trade, I've gone from "it has to be Fields" to "they're keeping Jimmy so it maker sense it's Lance" to "oh lord it's gonna be Jones isn't it..."

Nobody knows anything at this point. I wouldn't waste any time parsing words, attendances and twitter opinion in the next 30 days. It's exhausting. There happens to be an event a month from now where all of this is settled.

I don't think that's gonna happen at all....I think there's a MUCH better chance he turns into a similar prospect to Jimmy G and everyone gets canned 5 yrs from now from making what some say is the worst trade in NFL history. I mean I hope not.

I don't think the other dudes will turn into s**t because they have a talent level that exceeds Jones, they will be pushed higher in SF. Jones is who he is and imo is maxed out like most Bama players.
