If Kyle makes him the guy, I'll have no choice but to root for him to succeed. Like I've said, Kyle is the genius, not me. But given the coaching, culture, and talent on this team, why go with the guy with the worst physical traits? It's more likely than the historical average that any of these QBs succeeds here because the foundation of this team is not your average team drafting in the top 5. So why not swing for the fences with the dude with crazy physical traits?

Like I said, I am not on the Jones train (at three). I agree with you. I am just preparing myself for what I believe is going to happen

If they are just blowing smoke, they are convincing *a lot* of people that there really is a fire there. Personally I'm not so sure Mac is the pick. Kyle brought in Brock Rutter in the 2020 training camp and that signaled to me a shift in his attitudes about mobile QBs.

Lol I don't know why people keep bringing this up. Kyle spent a weekend with Justin Fields back when when Fields was 17 years old. He really "knows"him.

I guess more than watching Joe blow throw 60 passes while snacking on cookie in between lol

Mayo Mac.

Well Countdown Mayo > Mayo Mac in my book.

They also had a private workout with Trubisky.....

Yeah, that was smoke that worked. It got CHI to trade up one spot for us, and we still got our guy. Oh, wait . . .

I don't care if they take Jones. But it will be a little disappointing that Shanahan can watch his team get obliterated by Josh Allen, have Mahomes break the dam, and have his elite defense lose to Lamar Jackson and think Matt Ryan is the way to win going forward. Maybe it is. I'm no coach.

Jones will have to be elite from the pocket every game.

Maybe they should have spent less time putting up smoke screens and more time evaluating Watson and Mahomes.

Yeah. If Shanahan had already made up his mind, why would he go to any Pro Day? Everyone already knows who the first two picks are going to be. Is Shanahan trying to keep himself from knowing who he's gonna draft?

He went because he needed to see McCorkle up close — because he hasn't decided who he's picking yet.

The fact that he's even in question to be the pick is the problem. f**king gross.

also it is kinda a big deal if he goes, I don't think Kyle has been to a pro day outside of Stanford since being the HC here.

No question. His judgement on QBs is seriously questionable at this point. The fact that this is the first pro day that he's attended in a long time is scary.

Wow, I didn't know he never attended pro days before.

No he has just not outside of Stanford

Well that makes sense, he's dealing with the full HC load, and he can always delegate to subordinates those things.

It's seems like this might happen and count me as one of the underwhelmed if so. Nothing is certain in the draft until it happens, but trading the farm for someone who seems like at best, a middle to top-third QB prospect is crazy and sad.

Since this trade, I've gone from "it has to be Fields" to "they're keeping Jimmy so it maker sense it's Lance" to "oh lord it's gonna be Jones isn't it..."

Nobody knows anything at this point. I wouldn't waste any time parsing words, attendances and twitter opinion in the next 30 days. It's exhausting. There happens to be an event a month from now where all of this is settled.

I get it, still doesn't change the sinking feeling...

Mac Jones being even as good as Matt Ryan is probably less than 1/1000 of outcomes.

It's not just about being mobile...it's just overall talent level. They're not on the same tier. I watched Lance's pro day vs Jones again (fresh eyes). It wasn't even close....anyone with two sets of eyes can see the talent level isn't the same. I'll bet it's the same for fields this week.

if you can't work with that high level talent and groom them then you shouldn't be a HC.

It got so bad with doom and gloom that the thread had to be locked up.

well I'm looking at it positively -- there's going to be *opposing team fans* here trying to figure out Kyles brain, and I'm sure Susweel is already setting traps for them.

For real. Ryan is bigger and stronger then fat boy Jones.

maybe he gets to Kirk's level.

holy f**k, Alabama is having a second pro day.

Mac Jones is so awesome, just one Pro Day is not enough to contain him.

And ShanaLynch are there for it.

Jones would have to be Aaron Rodgers / Tom Brady to justify this pick.

Forget about the whole pocket passer vs dual threat argument for a sec. How do we even know Jones will even have a career as good as Jared Goff? All things considered, Goff had a good career. But if Jones mirrors Goff's production, it would still be a waste of three first rounders.

Agree with you on that. Lance is in another universe physically. His clips against what looked like the Michigan wolverines (I probably am wrong on the team) looked like he trucked four linebackers and a defensive end.
