Also, how does one really determine QB ceiling? Why is Jones such a low ceiling guy? He's got a pretty great arm. Is it just because he's slow and unathletic?

Let's face it, people overemphasize athleticism to determine a QB's ceiling. Why? Because it's the easiest thing to evaluate.

holy f**k, Alabama is having a second pro day.

Mac Jones is so awesome, just one Pro Day is not enough to contain him.

And ShanaLynch are there for it.

Whoa! Second pro day? Can they do that?

I guess that's because physical traits are more obvious to the eye than the stuff that happens between the ears. Also people assume things like mechanics, processing, and decision making can be taught....though in practice that's really unpredictable.

Agree, and NY85 also agrees with me that intangibles are also the *hardest* things to evaluate. Having said that, I am personally hoping we get a Mac Jones with Steve Young's legs.

Mac Jones can he do whatever the hell he wants. Dude stays up all night before games pounding down beers, eating platefuls of chocolate chip cookies, smoking a dozen cigars, then he goes out there and dominates anyways.

Why does everything have to be a smoke screen? This is some borderline QBanon conspiracy nonsense.
Here's a theory. They're throwing out the Mac Jones stuff to build up his value with the hope that some other team that's on the fence about him will feel more comfortable taking him high in the draft. Some GM's care deeply about how their picks are perceived by the experts and if they draft Jones high they can go "Hey, the Niners considered this guy at #3 overall!"...

The Niners want Mac Jones to be long gone before the Patriots and Bears pick. It's the best way to get a bidding war for Garoppolo started.

Just a theory because I hope they're not actually interested in Mac Jones lol.

This. There's no need to put out a smokescreen. Like I said initially before a bunch of people jumped on me, Mac Jones is very much still in the discussion. As are Lance and Fields. The team is going to dig deep into who these guys are, what makes them tick, what motivates them, who they associate themselves with and anything else they might possible need to know over the next few weeks. After all of that, heading into the draft, I'm sure they'll have a real good idea of who they are drafting but you don't make a decision this big, a move this big without covering all the possible bases and going OCD on due diligence, especially with all the issues Watson is dealing with right now.
