1) Lynch/Shanahan attending Mac Jones pro is a smoke screen

2) Mac Jones is the presumptive pick, but they are just crossing Ts and dotting Is in sending others to watch Fields

3) The 49ers are confused

Why would BOTH Shanahan and Lynch go to Jones unless Mac is the frontrunner OR it is a smoke screen. If a smoke screen for Jones, what do they need a smokescreen for?? Are they to convince a team to trade with the jets to leapfrog to #2 and take Mac Jones? Are they trying to convince the Jags or Jets to take Mac Jones first? If they are targeting Lance, they have him. No, this is not a smoke screen

Jets are taking Wilson, period. The 49ers will take Lance, Jones or Fields, period.

Urban Meyers did not attend Zach Wilson's pro day. Why? he is taking Lawrence.

Jets GM, Saleh and OC all attended Wilson's pro day. Why? They are taking Wilson.

Which QB pro day did Shanahan attend before Jones? None. Not Lance's Wilson's and will not go to Fields. They were trying to trade up to spot 5 initially, meaning they knew Jones wouldn't go that high.

So at this point the 49ers seem to want Jones.

They made a block buster trade, initially wanting spot #5 but were forced to go 3, knowing for certain Mac Jones would be there.

There is no need for a smokescreen.

That, literally, is my brain talking too (not my heart).

I'm guessing you won't catch Jones hanging out with high school girls in Scottsdale after getting drafted. Leinart always seemed like a dude that was more interested in the quarterback lifestyle far moreso than he was interested in playing quarterback.

Mac took his bumps early on with the DUIs but for the past few years, from.what anyone can see, the guy lives, eats, sleeps football.

This is where Kyle hires a bunch of retired CIA case officers to investigate the three QBs and thier families and friends, and get the location of all the skeletons and dead bodies buried in their particular back yards.

I don't know if he eats football, but he definitely eats.

Honestly I don't know how much I can buy into this guy being so committed to football when he can't be bothered to get himself into the weight room for a few hours a week.

Do some of you need a reminder someone with this body made 210 consecutive starts. The third longest streak in NFL History.

That's the body of someone who just isn't super toned. Mac Jones looks like someone that has never eaten a vegetable that wasn't a pizza topping.

Compare those two pictures. I can see definition around his chest and traps. You can seethe outline of his abs too. Plus, he's in his 30s in this picture. Mac Jones is in way worst physical shape and he's in his early 20s. It's a red flag that teams aren't going to just ignore.

I also see the signs of SF wanting Mac Jones. The report of SF wanting to get to #5 lines up with wanting to get in front of CAR (8th overall) and how the CAR coaching staff coached Mac Jones at the Senior Bowl, possibly linking Mac Jones to CAR. I don't see the need for a smokescreen either.

I'm sorry, IMO you don't give up three first round picks for a QB prospect without any discernible "special traits". I'm tired of this "Kyle likes statue, boring QBs, so Jones is the guy" BS. Kyle has to be tired of losing/trying to defend mobile QBs who look to throw when they scramble like Mahomes, Wilson and Murray twice a year. Opposed to Jimmy who looks for somewhere to turtle when the first read isn't there and he feels an ounce of pressure.
Just not Jones please.

Define "special traits." Both the physical and mental + intangible. Often times the special traits aren't the ones you see in a 40 time.

Totally agree, everyone is enamored with a 4.5 40 time but what about everything else? Tom Brady didn't have "special traits" I think he's doing just fine.

If they really do want Jones, I'm wondering if they will trade back to 5 or 6 and pick up some extra picks in the process. The rumors were that they tried to trade #12 for the 5th or 6th slot and couldn't. Now that they have a higher pick, maybe they can trade back and still get Jones plus another pick or two. Just one more possible scenario.

If it's Jones this is exactly what I'm thinking. I can see the Panthers at 8 calling.

I don't think it was we couldn't trade with teams at 4/5 it was more seeing if those teams were all about moving their pick or not.

Albert Beer broken down what happened and how SF has some hush hush trade going on with the Phins for weeks. Miami had to work a trade with Philly to get back up to top 6 to make it all go down.

During these times when everyone and their mama has a breakdown video, I've been searching for non-popular content hoping for additional insight. This guy played college ball at USC and in his other videos I've watched he breaks down passing concepts and progressions so he knows that part of the game. Here's his Mac Jones breakdown:

TLDW
Strengths:
Intermediate routes
Reading leverage, throwing WRs open
Consistent execution of play concept

Weaknesses:
Overstriding in his footwork
Lack of mobility (not just for scrambling, but also for boot action plays)
No reps on video of timed, quick game throws (slants, quick outs, hitches); this is not referring to bubble screens
Average level of difficulty due to talented supporting cast
Not fluid throwing on the run

That was the best breakdown I've seen yet. TY for that!

A lot of what I've been saying! Holy hell I may be a bit "passionate" on my evaluations...but damn I'm not a dummy.

he's not this massive scheme fit like everyone has been saying.

This is such a great beak down of what he was at Bama good & bad.

It was super objective IMHO. He covered a lot of the nuances (good and bad) as well as identify the type of place he'd need to go to to maximize his skill set as well as ID the types of play calls you'd want to call with him (and the ones you don't).
The face you make when you're getting QB1 for the system and a special thrower while your ex boss gets Kirk Cousins 2.0

Kyle would 100% be an internet troll if he wasn't an elite coach. He loves this s**t. Plays the game every offseason.

ouch
Can some off the field issue happen with Mac Jones please? Anything, I don't care what, as long as that scrub is scratched from the 49ers board.

The bolded part is why he doesn't fit Kyles offense at all.

He won't be smiling when the Jets fire him in a couple of years like they did with Todd Bowles.

ouch

Except he's not able to do the things that Kirk Cousins can.
