The thought was that Carolina would be all over Mac Jones at #8 if they couldn't get Watson. If true and if Jones is who the 49ers want then they had to get in front of the Panthers no matter what.

If I do have a measurable number I care about the most is SS 3-cone...being able to move quickly laterally. 40 times only matters if it's like a 4.4 or something stupid.
And yes McCorkle looks slower than 4.8 on the field.
