Oddly enough... He, Manning, and Mahomes all ran about the same 40.

He's an elite deep ball thrower because his wide receivers are open by 5 yards typically. He does have a better arm than Tua, but it's not better than any of the four other quarterbacks in the first round. Why is it that nobody thought Mac Jones would be the third quarterback taken until the Niners all of a sudden traded up to that spot? Is it because Kyle coached two guys that are similar to him in Matt Ryan and Kirk cousins? Would you give up three first round picks for Kirk cousins or Matt Ryan at 22 years old?

If being open by five yards is what affects deep ball accuracy then Jimmy wouldn't have missed Bourne for the game winner in week 1 or the Super Bowl winner to Sanders last year.

So what? Probably because Fields knew he was going to have a career as an NFL player. Where Jones before this year probably didn't.

Isn't Jones masters in culinary arts?

No, it shows how terrible Jimmy is at the deep ball. Most competent quarterbacks make those throws. Why do you think we never take deep shots with him? Even when we had Goodwin we just wouldn't do it.

Look at this picture, closely. What do you see?

I see John Candy in the stands.

God willing.

Well as soon as the news hit me Maiocco on Sirius assumed it was for Trey Lance or Justin fields, because he said you don't trade 3 first round picks for a prospect like Mac Jones.

That's my point of confusion

MM could just be wrong. Or they fed him some wrong info purposely Could be a smoke screen for whatever reason

Oh, damn

I had to read that twice. I didn't know that was Fields major.

99% of athletes are Kinesiology or Comm majors, so it's not a big deal. I think Mac is a comm major. Both degrees are f**king cakewalks.

Trust me, I know. I have a BA in Comm from SF State.

NC, watch this one. This dude is the best QB evaluator on the Internet that I've found. He's a former NFL QB and current QB coach.

Watch that throw at the 29min mark

Yet people want to question his arm strength and say he can't make spectacular off platform throws. There is tons of clips of him doing it when he needs to, he just didn't have to do it much in Bama's offense.

I know Shanny is seeing a younger more disciplined Matt Ryan, who also just happened to go 3rd overall too.
The 49ers did not move up to #3 overall in the hope their guy would be there. They didn't give up the draft capital they gave up in the hope they can make a deal with the Jags and or Jets for #1 or #2, respectively. They moved up to three because they must know their guy will be there. Thus, there are (at least) three guys worthy of that selection. Otherwise, it's a hope and a prayer move, and the odds of that being what happened is, for all intents and purposes, nil.

I imagine Kyle realized he needed a better QB, he looked at the draft and (probably) said I can win titles with TL, ZW, and x. Now, I do not know who x is (I believe it will be Jones), but they are in position to, and will, take their guy. Guaranteed. I don't want it to be Jones. But, I reserve judgement until 2023 and beyond
For the people convinced he's not looking at Mac Jones at all...

?t=1440

At the 24:00 minute mark:

Of course, if you can get a guy who's an elite with his arm and can play in the pocket who can do everything and still run around and make off schedule plays, I mean, it's what you've seen with Mahomes… Um, you know, and that's, I mean, everybody wants something like that. Um, but there is a risk to everything, and you gotta see that in the draft, you gotta see it in college. And…it's not that these guys are just coming… No one's probably been talented like that. I mean, some have, Elway's pretty talented… Um, and there's people, uh but more and more, there's more talented players playing these positions in college so I do think there's more options coming into the league… Um, but if you can't sit in that pocket and play the position eventually it's not going to matter. So they both go hand in hand…

Tried my best to transcribe, apologies if I left something out. There's some other nice tidbits in there as well, regards to not tipping their hats by visiting QB's and saying once they traded up he felt comfortable in going to see Jones(beginning portion of interview), as well as his stance on Kirk Cousins(after that 24:00 minute segment).

Well we know for sure from his physique that Jones degree isn't in P.E.
