QBs get pushed up regardless. Look at Daniel Jones. If SF wants him it's gonna be their first rd pick. You can't wait on a QB you're planning on being the FQB

We'll see what happens after the college football playoffs. Mac Jones and even Kyle Trask could see their stocks rise and rise with their performances in the upcoming games.

For now, a trade up back into the 1st for Mac is my ideal situation.

20. Minnesota Vikings (6-6)
21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-5)
22. Miami Dolphins (8-4)
23. Indianapolis Colts (8-4)
24. Tennessee Titans (8-4)
25. New York Jets (from Seattle Seahawks, 8-4)
26. Jacksonville Jaguars (from Los Angeles Rams, 8-4)
27. Cleveland Browns (9-3)
28. Buffalo Bills (9-3)
29. Green Bay Packers (9-3)
30. Kansas City Chiefs (11-1)
31. New Orleans Saints (10-2)
32. Pittsburgh Steelers (11-1)

... the idea of trading back to the 1st round or early second will not get us either Mac or Trask even IF they are to go in the 1st round... Look at the teams in BOLD, all of them will be looking to draft a QB..

While Tennessee and the Saints have Tanney and Hill, I still would not be surprise if they draft one.

Also, if the Steelers win it this year, BEN retires !!!

I REALLY REALLY wanted to argue with you, but you're right. The rush on QBs this upcoming draft is going to be so real. It's going to force a lot of talent down in the draft because of it.
Before I talk about mac jones, I need to address Jimmy g. The only way he is on the roster next season is if he takes a pay cut and restructures his deal. If he doesn't and it's clear he wants the money, he'll be traded. The only way he gets paid on his current contract is if he gets traded, so his no trade clause is irrelevant. If he denied a trade he gets cut and doesn't get a deal anywhere close to what he is currently slotted. Now on to mac jones, I can relent a certain lengthy qb who was very underwhelming physically but turned out great with Josh McDaniels. That's what I like about mac jones, the guy has made his name off proving doubters wrong.

I'm more on the trade down bandwagon because I don't see us getting a tier 1 or 2 guy. May be better off coming out of this with 3 or 4 picks on day 1 and 2 and coming out with a one or two IOL, a corner, and a QB that can sit for a year but still would be talented enough to challenge Jimmy for a starting job.

This is what I've been saying... aside from injury he's a top half lock due to the amount of teams needing a QB

Daniel Jones got pushed up in a weak QB class outside of Murray at the top.

I'd be absolutely shocked if we saw 5 QBs in the top 15 but the position is obviously highly valued for clear reasons.

But have a hard time seeing that happen. Even in 2018 which was a super top heavy draft only had 4 guys go top 15 and that was with Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen being considered super duper prospects at one point(obviously some shine came off them final year/pre draft) and with Baker making his bid for top spot and Josh Allen's raw potential.

This year we have the clear cut studs Lawrence and Fields. Wilson is trending like this year's Mayfield(though he's not unseating Lawrence and imo unlikely to unseat Fields) and Lance is obviously the Allen of this class.

Jones is very solid but I just don't see the traits that would push him into the top 15 but things change quick during pre draft months.
He's a fine QB, but if they are looking to move on from JG and get a more mobile QB with a better arm, I fail to see how this guy achieves that.
I wouldn't be so sure about this guy being QB1 for Kyle. That whole he doesn't like mobile QBs may soon be put to rest, thank goodness

Lol talk about people reading those comments how they want to.

His comments very easily could've been read that now that he's a HC he realizes he needs to be able to win with any type of player and winning with a guy like Jimmy or Mullens can be done.

He made no mention of a mobile QB specifically. Could've easily been talking about a guy like Jimmy with a quick release or just a guy with a huge arm but a statue.

Obviously people want to see Kyle break out of his Cousins/Beathard type and hope we can hit on the next Mahomes.

Hopefully that's what he means and that's what will happen but the comments were far from "I'm down to get a mobile QB next"

It'll be put to rest when he drafts one. All that talk means nothing.

Draft Trey Lance and prove me wrong, Kyle. I dare you.

How I want to read it? The question was directly asked of him about it and that was his response. I've read for months here how Kyle would never consider it and his "type" was non mobile statues, this tells me he's open to any type. How else do we interpret this since It's lol to you? As of now I would agree with Hero that I wouldn't believe it until I see it though

He was asked how he evaluates QBs.

His comments were in essence as a HC I can work with any type but I look for elite traits.

No mention of specific ones. We all hope he learned from his miss of Mahomes and Watson but those comments can be read a lot of different ways. I've seen a few people point to them as if he's legit saying "I definitely want a mobile guy with a huge arm"

Posted this in another thread but here you go:

Kyle Shanahan on mobile QBs:

"It gives you a huge advantage when the quarterback's a threat to run. If you have to pick one way or the other, I always feel no matter who you are, especially when you get in those playoffs, eventually a team's going to make you sit in that pocket and make you make some big throws to win a game. So, you have to have that ability, but anyone who has both always has the chance to exceed everybody.

The more you can have both, the more things you can do as an offense and the less things the defense can do just having to defend everything.

"I think there are a lot more coming up, guys who have seen guys run around and make plays and have stayed at the quarterback position their entire career, starting in Pop Warner to high school, to college. I think more offenses have incorporated a bunch of things that allow guys to develop as pocket passers, even though they're unbelievable athletes and can make plays.

I think there's more and more guys coming out who have been doing both forever. When you have that, then you've got a chance to do both and that's why you can see that the league is finding more and more of those guys."
