Hanging a ball up there a tad too long is going to lead to INTs. I don't think he's like a Brock Osweiler with slow-as-molasses release and loopy passes, but arm strength factors into almost all the top end qbs in the league.

One of the criticisms of his is that his talented receiver core leads to him throwing to wide open players, competing against overmatched backfields.

I guarantee Shanny doesn't gaf about this, he schemes a ton of our players wide open, he just wants someone who can identify and hit the target every time.

Maybe Jones does make sense.

You listen to the presser? Sounds to me like he does value arm talent and athletic ability without question.

boy if you get a min just watch Jones' pro day then put on Lance's pro day...the arm talent isn't in the same planet.

No kidding.

Just watching Jones film next to Fields and Lance, it is stark how less talented he is compared to them.

It would be exciting to have a QB like Fields to watch play in SF. We get that Steve Young style of play where the QB can make a great play at any time. BUT, Joe Montana made greater plays but they weren't jaw dropping or anything like that because they were simply owning the defense by knowing what the defense was doing and getting the ball to the players that can move better than any QB can.

I don't care who the QB is, just get a QB that is a step ahead of the defense.
The presser made it quite clear to me that they are comfortable with 3 guys but are kicking the tires on 2 more to see if they can make it 4 or 5.

He said flat out he was comfortable with Fields at the elite level.

That says Lance and Jones are the other 2 guys.

Watching Jones throw it's clear he isn't gonna be a guy that can end up a top 5 QB in the league. Something they are clearly looking to get here. They aren't looking for a day 1 starter with less upside.

As of now the pick is Fields. Lance has a chance to impress them and get in the mix. Jones won't get there.

Sure, and I agree to an extent, but if you look at the QBs that have won Super Bowls in the Shanahan offense, it's the athletic ones.

Due diligence. But you don't move up that far unless you've already got your guy locked in.

You think it's Lance?

If you get a chance listen to that full press conference yesterday...nothing from that presser screamer Mac Jones at all.

Feels more like Fields then anyone imo. Lance runs a ton of the same stuff though.

I do feel more confident that it's not Jones though.

LOL. I did.

Just curious, how are you drawing that conclusion and from a presser?
When dissecting flim remember that lance was 19yr old freshman, running boots, making calls etc. I still think fields or lance is the way to go.

I saw that presser and makes me think Mac is the pick. When asked about Mac, Kyle shuffled his chair almost like a bad poker face.

I'm all about reading the tea leaves too. I still don't know either. One could focus on body language and when asked why ShanaLynch are going to Mac Jones' pro day, he pivoted to not having to hide as much anymore at 3. Naturally, these are all calculated answers and of course, they'll do their due diligence as they still have a month to change their mind.

It's all part of his master plan to continue the push for PP. Not a QB in the tweet p 5 that will require more high end PP then Jones.

after that presser I'll be shocked if they take Jones.

Haha right. Russell Wilson, Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady. I'd advocate for that no matter what QB we have. They all lose without it and get pummeled...if you still haven't noticed.

If I recall correctly , They didn't go to Bosa pro day , but went to Williams pro day and took him out for dinner .

I'm curious NC, out of Fields/Lance/Jones which is your preferred pick?

Great points, never thought about it in that way.

I'm not pro-Jones, I'm just making sense of everything in my own head.

Absolutely listened to the presser. I'm trying to take everything said with a grain of salt and look at past examples for confirmation, instead.

Mullens has a slug for an arm, and he started for us. I think Jones has a better arm and vastly more football IQ, and I'm not saying we moved up to 3 to draft another Mullens, either. But I think there are things Shanny will overlook due to confidence in his game plan.
How's this conspiracy theory, Saleh let's it slide they want Fields, Atlanta wants Lance (trade is already in the works), , Saleh rapes Atlanta for a haul of first rounders (which will be higher 1st rounders than the 9ers anyway), Atlanta moves to #2 takes Lance, 49ers take Wilson. Jets get their guy Fields and a bunch of picks. Everyone is happy.
