Mac Jones-QB-Jaguars

Serious question, why do we really care about pro days? Don't real player evaluators watch film? Isn't film the most important aspect of the evaluation, followed by an investigation of who the person is? The person's make up? I watched Jones' pro day and his physical traits are underwhelming. I then watch some film breakdown videos and he appears to execute the offense as is intended, including making big time throws. I don't have a horse in this race but the obsession with the physical appearance and athleticism seems to be incredibly overrated. Do we want a guy who executes the offense, or a guy who can make plays with his feet? We have recency bias because of Mahomes' (and Wilson's) special ability to do both. But I want a guy who plays quarterback from the pocket. Any additional athletic skills are bonus in my opinion. Again, I am not saying Jones lack of physical talent is not risky, or not to be evaluated. It must be evaluated. I just don't know why evaluators truly care about the pro day when they have film to review, or why we as fans should discount Jones because he does not look as good as these other qbs in shorts and without defenders.

Guys like Hoyer, Beathard, Mullens, Jimmy, and now Jones? I'm not sure Shanahan is able to pick the guy best suited for his system.

Lol was about to say the same damn thing all while passing on Watson and Mahomes when you desperately needed a qb at the time.
The QB might outlast Kyle, drafting a QB at #3 with what we gave up, the QB should be close to scheme-irrelevant.

I am not saying that scheme does not matter but we should not be just picking a guy who can best execute "Kyle's scheme". I want the QB who has the traits to run most schemes at an elite level.
A smoke screen to take Jones accomplishes nothing at all. The fact is I'm starting to think that the 49ers really haven't made up their mind.

You forget Kirk Cousins was the guy KS really wanted

Bs, you don't make that move unless you have a guy you really love. Going to all these pro days is due diligence and not tipping your hand, they better know who they want and not p***y foot a month away

That is what an organization would do if it had strong ownership and a strong general manager.

But Kyle has the most power in this organization.
im fine with doing due diligence. you never know what happens with any of these guys (could get in trouble, could have a freak injury where you're no longer taking them high, etc). ANYTHING can happen so you need to be prepared to take any number of guys. So i don't mind him doing his homework on mac and fields and everyone else. but if all stays consistent, it has to be fields.

I'm curious NC, out of Fields/Lance/Jones which is your preferred pick?

Each day I've guesstimated each one. I've bowed out on emotion on this one and I'm just going to trust Kyle on this one. No conviction. I fully get the stance on each as I've gone through it too.

Just watch for smoke and read the tea leaves and enjoy the mental gymnastics, emotions and meltdowns no matter who it is.

Who you got? Prefer?

You know I'm on the same boat. It's not clear cut for me like Lawrence/Wilson. Each has it's strengths and weaknesses, but I'll trust Kyle on the pick. My preference would probably be Fields.

Appreciate that.

"You made me trade up for this guy like you made trade up for CJ Beathard. What the hell are you doing?"
