Is the mind an elite tool? Something only Kyle is privy too when scouting all these QB's. I could care less if my QB ran 4.3. Can he run the offense? That's the question.

Better not be your only elite tool. Alex aced the Wonderlic too. Rosen had great processing speed, so did Bradford. You need the arm and legs to do what your brain tells them and the ability to actually pull it off. You can know where the right throw is, most pro QBs do, can you physically make it?

I STRONGLY disagree on this. Rosen's biggest problem is that he's frequently late with the ball, and he's late because he's exactly the opposite of a fast processor.
Jones looked prepared for a Fraternity game of touch football, Fields looked prepared for the biggest job interview of his life.

College Rosen, took this from the first scouting report I clicked on:

"Mental processing
More than even his mechanics, Rosen's ability to run a sophisticated offensive scheme, to quickly and accurately diagnose a defense, and make good decisions based on all that, is his calling card."

Demeanor wise I totally concur. Unfortunately

Well, I didn't watch him much in college after his freshmen year. But I watched a bunch of him in Arizona and Miami, and he is just terrible at processing. Slow, slow, slow. That's what I see when I watch Rosen. Slowness.

Maybe that gets better, but probably not. It rarely improves for guys more than negligibly.

I really like Jones as a prospect but with Shanahan being there at his pro day rather than OSU's just screams smokescreen to me. The game of chess ain't over until draft day.

The plane that flew them to Alabama is scheduled to take off in an hour from now and fly to Columbus lol.

They aren't even sticking around to say hi after Jones finishes.

Not even to want to hang around to sample one of his GFs chocolate chip cookies

Just because an internet scouting profile said it doesn't make it true. One of his issues in college was being indecisive on his throws, he'd see something, hesitate and then throw it too late. Even if you process at a high level, if you're hesitating before you throw, that becomes a fatal flaw in the NFL if you can't change things up.

Agreed. I'm comparing them as college prospects and it's difficult to disassociate them when they get to the pros and we see what they do on this level. Rosen had a bad attitude in college, unsure how he responds to coaching. He was always bad when things broke down around him but at the collegiate level he was quick with his decisions. The NFL breaks a lot of guys.

"Rosen doesn't have a rocket arm, and that can get him in trouble when he tries to heave it deep, giving defenders time to make up ground. At times, though, Rosen's brain compensates for this deficiency."

"Rosen's ability to read and understand the movements of players around the field is advanced. He understands how route concepts match up against coverage, uses his eyes to bait defenders, and progresses through full-field reads at good speed. With his experience reading multiple levels of the field, Rosen already shows a veteran's understanding of the mental side of the passing game. But that's not the only topic we'll cover here."

Those are two other separate profiles. He had a terrible team at UCLA, he was great playing within structure. Mac Jones is also great playing within structure. I'm not saying they're very similar prospects I was just making a comparison that Rosen had a good football brain and above average processing and it hasn't been enough at the NFL level.

Obviously there are multiple causes for that. Rosen did try to play some hero ball in college but that's because he was basically their only chance at winning.

Rosen had zero pocket awareness that carried over to the NFL. It's probably why he took so many hits in college.

If we consider Mahomes the standard of a once in a generation talent then consider this...

Jones called Shanahan a mastermind. He understands his offense.
