They compared him to Big Ben? That makes absolutely no sense at all lol.

I heard him wrong, when they were talking about Mac Jones, he was talking about the traditional pocket passers like Big Ben, Drew Brees can succeed in the NFL, because a lot of teams are looking at mobile QBs, I had to replay because I almost spit out my coffee haha
I thought I heard some debate between commentators about how you 'need' a mobile QB in today's pro game. I think it was Dan Orlovsky....it was ridiculous.

Hahaha that makes more sense.

He was more or less asking for them to name the last successful QB drafted in the 5yrs that had no athletic ability.

While I think you can have a ton of success with a pure pocket passing QB, the game has changed. Steve young talks about it...there are free yards out there for QBs that have the ability to scramble. Probably around 3 more 1st downs to be had. A LOT of teams are taking advantage of this, we are not.

I want a QB who can play within the pocket, but also has the ability to extend plays and scramble for those free yards if the opportunity is there.

Not sure why people in here are against that

Who is against that? If anything, I've read and heard that you have to have a guy who is mobile because the game has changed, and that's utter nonsense. Young also has said that eventually, you have to win from the pocket (I believe the comments were in regards to Lamar Jackson) and that to me, is obvious. Every great QB in history who was considered to have cement feet would absolutely eviscerate this league.

Young was talking about just how the game is today it was on KNBR like a month ago. WZ had a article about it I believe.

No one is saying to draft Lamar Jackson who clearly had issues throwing from the pocket in college. He was more athlete than QB at Louisville. IMO all these top 4 QBs prospects can play within the pocket and all of them can move/extend plays/get free yards etc.

There are posters in here saying that a mobile QB would not be utilized in this offense and essentially be a waste because Kyle only likes pocket passers.

Kyle has said in a previous interview that you have to win in the pocket but players who can run too give you a clear advantage. Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, and Lance all fit that mold of a dual threat. So it's not that he thinks we have to have a mobile QB, but he's recognized that the game is changing with the defense inability to hit QBs when they take off to run that adding that element to this offense would be extremely beneficial.

I think all of those players I mentioned will become better throwers than Jackson. So i'm on the side of getting the best player at QB cause Kyle would take advantage of all their strengths and that's not something everyone agrees with.

Zach Wilson easily hits that

Please, Gunnar Watson is already having a better game against Coastal Carolina than Captain BaseballBat Boy did.

You're treating this like all things are equal.

#1 we likely will have to give up assets for Wilson. Whereas you shouldn't for Jones.

#2 yes Wilson has a stronger arm and faster legs. Mac Jones is a better passer and seems to be a more heady player.

If all things were equal meaning they both were on the board without trading up and Kyle chose Wilson ahead of Jones, I'd understand. I'd also understand if he chose Jones over Wilson.

People watch Wilson and see Mahomes because he can make some unhuman passes. But when you watched Mahomes you seen one of the best pure passers you'd ever seen. EVERY pass seemed effortless.

You (well I) don't see that with Wilson. Not saying he sucks or anything but he's closer to Mac Jones than he is Patrick Mahomes (as a prospect)

Couldn't disagree more. What makes you think Jones is a better passer and more heady player?
