That ain't why we lost dude. I really don't want to track down the plays again, but we lost because Jimmy COULDN'T run the playbook except for the one-read plays. In particular, on two red zone third downs, Jimmy FAILED to run the playbook, because he FAILED to throw it to the wide open guy past the sticks. He locked on to his first pre-snap read, and failed to adjust post-snap -- like he FREQUENTLY does, and the result is we left EIGHT points on the board in a game we were up by ten with half a quarter to go. Turn that ten point lead into an eighteen point lead and let's see what happens.

One side note though: One of those third downs would have required a good, hard pass to a curl. A good QB could make it. Jimmy perhaps could not. BUT... there was an opening for an EASY scramble for the first down if our QB had any speed at all. So yeah, all three of these rookie QBs would have picked up that particular first down, either by quickly finding the guy and throwing, or stealing the scramble yards the defense left open.

Well I'm not down on Jimmy but I know we got beat that game because even with the team we had we got beat by a superior talent under center. One that could beat even our defense

Jimmy beat Drew Brees in a shootout. He won a ton of games. Jimmy is good but we need GREAT with an immense ceiling for what we just gave up. Three first round picks!

Let's take that chance at three and draft one of the consensus top three QBs. Lawrence Wilson Fields

I don't remember being embarrassed by either one of those guys in 2019 we must've been watching different games

Mahomes beat us. I think we all know the juggernaut we had on defense in 2019. He punked us with 5 minutes left in the game and we could do nothing about it

Mahomes was looking pretty lousy for most of that game until the Chiefs defense stepped up in the 4th quarter.

Which ultimately was my point, every QB needs help. Help from their defense, help from their OL, help from their run game. No one is good enough to win just on their own.

Wilson hasn't done too well in the playoffs since he lost Lynch and the Legion of Boom was broken up.

Well he's a game breaker and an MVP talent. If we had Russ we'd be champions

A bit of hyperbole sure. But I saw every game that year and I knew early on that we were gonna eat the lunch of any pocket passer that couldn't extend plays

We only had trouble when we faced a QB that could and those were the only guys that beat us in 2019

Ok Chiefs defense played their part but they didn't put scores on the board. Mahomes did and we had a QB that couldn't when it counted because he didn't have the game breaking ability that Mahomes had

jimmy is good but we lost in large part because chiefs had the better talent under center

I'm probably in the minority, but I'm good with any of these guys. I know ALL of you have your "favorite" but we have a pretty good team and I believe in KS. It's up to them to figure out who has the highest ceiling/who can lead them to where they're going.

Well, we are in this situation bc we traded for Jimmy and gave him a massive contract. If not Jimmy - we would have done the same with Kirk - and I think we would have been in exact same spot if had Kirk instead of Jimmy.

Everyone can make mistakes - QB gurus as well. If we go with this standard - then pretty much all coaches know more and better than pretty much every fan and reporter - and we shouldn't question them at all.

Disagree. If Garoppolo could just stay healthy, we wouldn't be in this spot at all. One thing you can't say about Cousins is that he misses game, dude is rock solid.

I think both Jimmy and Kirk are above average QBs - but neither are players who can win a game in playoffs if the defense and the run game is off. If Jimmy was healthy last season - I think - our FO would be considering what should be do about the QB situation. Should be give Jimmy another year or make a move and get our franchise QB now.

In short - I don't think it's just about the injuries.

Apparently, neither is Mahomes or Wilson either.

I think we all know that what I am saying. Mahomes did it against Houston when he was down 24. Brady did it in the Superbowl against Shanahan. We have seen games from the very elite QBs who won games for their teams when their defense was struggling and opposing defense shut down the run game. Whether it was for an entire game or for a quarter or for a half.

I think Jimmy and Kirk and Alex Smith are similar in the sense that - if you put a good defense and run game around them - they can win you a bunch of games. You have to have that for them to win games. They are good game managers and nothing wrong with that - that is a great skill to have. But the elite ones can be good game managers but can also win you the game when nothing else working well.

Hopefully that will speed up his absorbing of the playbook. He may be ready by this years trade deadline to step in to the starting role.

And better talent in the black and white stripes.

Well I can't argue that. Lots of holding calls missed where our DL was illegally impeded for starters

Sure, he knows him well, but he isn't in his mind and the rest of our evaluator's minds. If he read his mind and knew what he was thinking, then why didn't he anticipate Kyle going after Aiyuk last year? Chris even said, after the draft last year, Kyle would have taken Aiyuk at 13.

He came out and said that he knew Kyle badly wanted Aiyuk and had compared him to Isaac Bruce so he kept him out of his rankings to not to tip off other teams.

Clue #1 as to why you should never listen to a damn word he says pre-draft so long as Kyle is the HC here.

I agree, Fields or Lance.
