lol. that's just a bad take. he may not be worth the third overall pick but he's definitely a 1st rounder.

Who the hell is still rooting for him to be the pick in here?

It's going to be hard to match Mac Jones if you want to focus on consistency. Outside of a Kentucky game where he's at 66% completion he averaged mid 70s to 80% completion all season long. He was so consistent he set an NCAA record for QBR and completion percentage.
Consistency can be more of a concern with Fields however who had an incredible opening game completing 95% of his passes against Nebraska but then completes 44% of his passes against Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship and 51% of his passes against Bama in the Championship game.
Trey Lance unfortunately only really has 2019 numbers to look at and he was up and down but had games where he's completing 80% of his passes but also games where he's in the 50's and even one at 47.6%. He's a really young and raw special talent however. He can run like a RB but has a cannon that can produce top NFL level velocity while he played under center in a pro style system. Kid went undefeated in his college football career.

All I'm trying to say is if you can't perform in the pocket everything else is useless unless you want to play another position. Yes Fields And Lance can get better in the pocket but that's not what teams are basing their evaluations on. I don't think NFL teams view themselves as developmental entities.
Number one attribute as an NFL QB is are you any good in the pocket? The rest is like adding on Auto accessories.
Thats just how I look at the QB position in the NFL.

Which was a response to what other people had posted earlier. Some are getting carried away with the Mac Jones bashing.

Seriously are there people in here that think he's worth 3 1sts rd picks? I mean what are we doing?

They all show potential. Won't really know how well it translates for any of them until they are thrown to the wolves in the NFL and respond.

I hope today's showing locked in Fields. I can't believe we would trade up to 3 for him. Maybe if we traded to the 5-7 pick I would be on board but no way at the 3rd pick.

Why are you so exercised over what other people think?
