I wouldn't see Kyle doing many of these from under center either. Similar to Garoppolo.
It feels weird for every QB...turning your back to the defense, planting and throwing (hopefully to that wide open primary). It's definitely something Kyle would drill into him in practice given PA is 25% of the offense.
looked slow as s**t and had a wide open Smith per usual....it's about as learnable as understanding coverages and a playbook.
Since 2017 SF is 4th in PA usage at 37% and 3rd in the NFL at taking snaps from under center (52%). It's the main element to there passing offense. PA is also a massive part to their pass-pro. It all flows off that and the running game. You can't be projecting if a guy can do the most important part of your offense lol.
49ers under Kyle Shanahan

(since 2017):
52% of snaps under center
(3rd in NFL)
34% of Pass yds via play action
(4th in NFL)
87% of passes from pocket
(6th in NFL)
51% of Rec yds after catch
(3rd in NFL)
Whichever QB they draft at 3 must maximize proficiency in those areas.
I still think it's for Lance

No one runs a better PA and PA/boot then lance in this draft

LOL. It's a PA designed around timing. You're not sprinting to do it. By the time you plant, a full 2 seconds has already gone by so you better hope that primary is open by then because you're getting hit at 2.5 even after completing it here.
But he usually is because the foundation is actually the running game and pre snap motion setting up the PA pass. It allows the QB to feed off PA for big passing plays. That's the design.
I already said PA is a staple here. But it's not the foundation and the bootleg is only a play they run roughly 35 times a year. It's a play call.
That said, taking snaps from C is one thing every college QB coming here will have to start getting comfortable with esp. those coming from a spread offense. Like your back to the defense, those are taught skills through repetition in a WCO.

Yes, he will, if he must, like he did with RGIII. He's a practical man. But he Really doesn't want to, like why he got pushed out of Wash and left Cle. He's a head coach now, so he gets to do it his way.
Say Hello to Mac.

That's definitely what my brain is telling me too. Not sure about my heart.

Athletic quarterbacks attract fans. Sometimes that even influences Owners to intervene, and you get guys like RGIII and Johnny Football. Then you lose guys like Kyle Shanahan.
How did that work out for those teams?

Thinking a athletic QB can't improve as a passer can lead to drafting Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen over Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson

Just like players nobody is going to be spot on. I think he raised some valid questions and I enjoyed hearing his take.

Dude you're driving me nuts lol.
Yes PA is all about timing AND being able to all the run affectively. Jones overall didn't have a bunch of quick timing/rhythm passing attempts. Especially off of PA. It's pure projection at this point, same thing with boots and boots off of PA.
Dude I feel like you need a tutorial on what a bootleg is here...
we most certainly use this and concepts off it...it's another reason why kyle has the type of OL he does.
you can go watch the breakdown video THL posted and see a designed rollout and he just wasn't athletic enough to run if correctly. His read wasn't there and he couldn't "be an athlete" enough to hit a wide open WR downfield. It's like those bombs from fields/Wilson at the end of their pro days. PA/rollout throwing off structure...that's god given ability.

It's the most unbiased breakdowns out there. From someone who ran the same offense under Sark, sorry it doesn't fit your narrative
