Lmao @ people thinking Kyle will get the boot if he drafts Jones.

No one saying he's going to get fired as soon as he picks him but in 2-3 years if Mac is garbage to average and we still haven't won a damn SB and then you see Fields and or Lance lighting it up it will happen

Not really, he's here for the long run. Any of the top 5 QBs coached by Kyle won't be a disappointment IMO, they all have flaws of their own and all have weaknesses but they're coming into the most QB friendly system in the whole league. Hard to be a bust in KS's system unless you really suck, Jones is far from it.
And if Fields and or Lance are tearing it up while we fall a little short every year? Kyle will more likely be another Jeff Fisher and not Reid if he takes Jones.
What? Are you saying he's gonna be more like Jeff Fisher than a guy who's won 1 super bowl in how many years?
Better than none.

Your not wrong. But just pure coaching talent it's pretty clear Kyle is light years ahead of Fisher and will probably surpass Reid when it's all over.
I hope so too, but if we take Jones I'm leaning he will be more like... great coordinator. s**t talent evaluator. Lol

I don't want Jones either at all but Kyle had Jimmy G take us to the super bowl. Made Nick Mullen's look like a passable QB. I'm pretty confident whoever we select Kyle will continue to keep us competitive.

That's the point. I don't want to go to a super bowl. I want to win! So far Kyle is the hot girl who hasn't out out yet. Id he is so good then Jones makes even less sense. Field and Lance have way more ability.

So Belichick is a slut? Lol. And yes I agree I would love to see what Kyle can do with Fields or Lances skillset

What happens if Fields and Lance bust out of the league and Jones becomes just a good NFL player like Jimmy? No SB, just an above average to good QB.

It's still a massive fail. You trade that much for a QB you better get great out of them. Or at least have potential to be great.

Mac's ceiling is Tom Brady. A ceiling no other QB has been able to hit, arguably in the history of the NFL. Even a Drew Brees is disappointing in only getting one SB.

Fields/Lance have more attainable ceilings given their god given abilities. They don't have to hit Tom Brady levels to be considered elite QBs in the league.

Personally I think the *overpayment* part was having to move up a whole month before the draft, and basically telegraph the move -- but in such a way that nobody could steal a jump on you. I view it as more of paying the premium to take your time to make sure that the house you are buying (for example) isn't a dump but has been pest inspected, wood rot inspected, foundations are sound, roof isn't leaking, plumbing works, and there is electricity. All that takes time. And whether or not Mac was the target moving up to #3, the more important thing was to *not screw up the pick* whoever it was going to be (Mac or otherwise) hence the premium paid to hold the pick in order to do due diligence.

I think they paid the premium with a specific guy in mind. Mike Shanahan firmly believed that all you needed was to study the tape to evaluate a player, the in-person stuff wasn't necessary. KS probably leans this way, his dad is his greatest influence they say. It's possible, but I'd be surprised if he made such a massive trade just to get a little more elbow room for the least important part of the eval process.

Sucks if we draft Mac ONLY because Kyle wants him and it goes against what the rest of the staff see

Kyle is the franchise right now....he shouldn't have to care about hurting anyone's feelings if he feels he's right.

And when has he been right?

Harsh, but fair.

Lol not my objective, just laying out all the facts. I don't expect anyone to change their stance...I'm just mind blown that there's legit people in here they are cool giving up all that for him. I've never seen such a overrated player and he might be coming here lol unreal

did you not say he's not gonna be good or turn into a bust?

Lol ceiling is Tom Brady the greatest qb of all time, if that was the case Jags would be all over him.
Jimmy >>>>>> Mac

Deal with it.

If Fields or Lance, and all it takes is one, is successful say end of year 2 and Jones isn't, Kyle and Lynch absolutely gonna have to start worrying about their jobs if they aren't fired out right, and rightfully so. They are purposely taking the less physically talent player in leu of something they can't possibly measure in intangibles.

I think every QBs ceiling is Tom Brady.
Tom Brady ceiling

Eli Manning comparison was pushing it .

Wouldn't the reverse hold true as well?
