I think a Connor Cook comparison is dead on

I mean technically every QB has the chance to be the best ever. But i would say the odds Mac Jones becomes the greatest is 1 in 100 million while Lance or Fields its 1 in a million. Now could Jones max out at Kirk Cousins like a lot have said? Sure that is much more likely a max outcome. But does that get you a Superbowl? And if he is 80% of that you are probably fired.

If Fields or Lance, and all it takes is one, is successful say end of year 2 and Jones isn't, Kyle and Lynch absolutely gonna have to start worrying about their jobs if they aren't fired out right, and rightfully so. They are purposely taking the less physically talent player in leu of something they can't possibly measure in intangibles.

What if both bust and Mac Jones looks like a legit franchise QB? Can we start firing posters?

That was basically my point. With the tools Jones has his ultimate ceiling is Brady which as I said is highly unrealistic given nobody outside of Brady has got to that level.

we've seen a lot more athletic/super talented prospects hit their upper levels and be considered elite QBs.

Elway, Rodgers, Mahomes, Watson, Wilson, Allen...etc.

point being with that trade at 3 you want a guy who can be an elite QB in this league. Jones' chance to get to that level is much smaller than the other prospects in play.

Except nobody liked Connor Cook and he couldn't hit the broadside of the barn much of the time.

Why do you think Draft media people for the most part don't become NFL GMs. You say QB A is the best in his class and he ends up out of the league in 3 years nothing happens. You draft QB A and he ends up out of the league then you are fired.

Listen whoever comes here will have a leg up on the other guys probably. Question is who would be best with that leg up. Imo that's not Jones.

Popularity doesn't mean your a good player. Look how popular Jimmy G is.

Connor is a Honda Civic and Jones will be a Honda Accord

Fields and Wilson are 6x6 G Wagon

we aren't paying 6x6 G Wagon money for a Honda
Absolutely nobody had Jones going before Fields or Lance. He was always 5th with the idea he could drop to middle first round.

We simply considered Jones around 12 because it was thought he may be available around there or reasonably close to trade up for.

That's history and we are now in the drivers seat for the remaining 3 QB's.

It's crazy to me people think this guy is worth what we paid to move up and worth it VS who we would pass over by choosing him.

I am psyching myself to be disappointed that we take Jones, but I refuse to believe Kyle would be this stupid to take him over Fields or Lance.

My point is that some people seem way too sure about who is going to succeed and who will fail and one constant about the draft is to expect the unexpected. I've seen way too many sure things flop and guys that no one thought would amount to anything became far better pro than college players.

That's why whether it's Lance, Jones, Fields or Wilson, I'm eager to see these guys develop and progress as quarterbacks in the NFL and I hope that whoever they choose, it'll be the right decision because out of those guys and Lawrence, you can pretty much count on two of them busting, maybe more.

I'll cheer for whoever they take and hope they got the good one, regardless of what the experts think.

Who was the poster in here who loved him? I cant recall but there was someone
If he's Matt Ryan, Kirk Cousins, Matthew Stafford I'm fine with the pick. If Matt Ryan had Shanny as his coach his entire career you think we have a different view of him? He's probably a guaranteed Hall of Famer and SB champ.

But that's not an if I'm taking if Fields is on the board.
