It's possible, but I'd be surprised if he made such a massive trade just to get a little more elbow room for the least important part of the eval process.

Think you're way underestimating Jones. I wouldn't be the least bit shocked to see him be a good long term NFL starter. Cook was never even a good backup.

Jones after 17 starts is a much better QB than Cook was after three years of being a college starting QB.
