Didn't he hire John Lynch with the condition that he keep it a secret and he wanted the organization to run with closed mouths. How is it all of a sudden Sims predicts us with Mac and now its's a thing.

Who is starting all this Kyle loves Mac talk?

I don't think anything has leaked

it's just obvious when you connect the dots, and that's what the media is doing. Look at Shanahan's history, and then watch Mac Jones. He fits perfectly in the offense

also, most of the media I've been listening to still say Lance/Fields at 3

and Sims is an analyst who studies tape, he had Mac Jones as his #3 QB before we traded up... but he also knows Shanahan and his philosophy very well, so like others, all he's doing is connecting the dots

That's what got me convinced Mac is going to us. I still rank my preference as Fields>Mac>Lance though.

So far nothing I've heard or seen has convinced me otherwise - and I *wish* it wasn't so. Still, Kyle is good enough to turn any of the three into a good QBs and this offense will be fine with any of the three. I truly believe in Kyle that much. The way he was able to demolish a top of the line Jags defense in 2017 and basically road grade two playoff teams in 2019 with pretty much no effort at all, and being several scores ahead of Bellicheat in the 2016 super bowl. That tells me a lot about Kyles coaching chops. Keep in mind, he's one of the youngest head coaches in the league. Bill Walsh was just a QB coach at Kyle's current age. Bellicheat had three straight loosing seasons at Kyles current age.

Alabama QB Mac Jones stakes his claim as the most interesting man in college football (espn.com)

"Jones' parents had heard seductive predictions for Mac's future, prognosticators who divined outsized success for their undersized son. Tom Brady confidant Scot Loeffler saw a high school-aged Jones at a camp and told Gordon that Mac would play on Sundays. John Lundgren, the father of Jones' teammate Jack, played golf at Notre Dame and swore Jones threw just like a quarterback the elder Lundgren used to play pickup games with in the snow back in South Bend. Some quarterback named Joe Montana."

This is a good article about the kid.

I mean technically every QB has the chance to be the best ever. But i would say the odds Mac Jones becomes the greatest is 1 in 100 million while Lance or Fields its 1 in a million. Now could Jones max out at Kirk Cousins like a lot have said? Sure that is much more likely a max outcome. But does that get you a Superbowl? And if he is 80% of that you are probably fired.

I think with Kyle (if Kyle really does pick Mac- putting aside the smoke screen issue) I think he has a better shot at becoming in the direction of the GOAT than if Kyle didn't choose him. All the great hall of fame coaches had great QB's associated with them. Walsh/Montana, Noll/Bradshaw, Landry/Staubach, Shula/Griesie/Marino. So is it the QB or the Coach? (the classic chicken or the egg question). I think it has to begin with the coach because it's the coach that has much more power to shape a team than a mear QB. Classic examples are Bradshaw/Staubach, once the coaches assembled a good team around the QB, the QB performed at a very high level.
Holy s**t, that's it. That's how Shanny is going to sell Mac Jones to the 49ers' fanbase. When the media questions him about him saying Kirk Cousin wasn't his prototype and how similar Mac is to Kirk, Shanny is going to say that Mac Jones doesn't remind him of Kirk Cousins--he reminds him of Joe Montana.

anyone else notice that the posters who can't wrap their heads around Mac Jones, resort to memes and gifs? as opposed to using logic

Or you know... pointing to the fact that the only great QBs this system has had were mobile?

or the months of interviews Shanahan has described how he would love to have a QB who can run.

only memes though, right?

Agree, good article, gives you a flavor of his attitude and mind set which is top of the line in my opinion.

Good insight into his personality. Seems by all accounts to be a guy his teammates love.

Dude couldn't keep his mouth shut if it was sewn tight. His arrogance didn't match his output at all.

So getting fake IDs and getting a DUI as a Freshman in college is what?

He has acknowledged it's possible to win with that type of QB if a team builds around and adjusts to that play style, but I'm not aware of him explicitly saying that's what he wants or intends to do himself.

Perhaps you could provide quotes?

What are you even talking about. Matt Ryan, Jimmy G, and Goff. Have all very recently taken their teams to the Superbowl in this offense. What are you talking about Elway in the 90s? If Jimmy G and Goff can put up monster numbers in this offense and take their teams to the Superbowl...... Then Imagine what Mac Jones will do with it.

He's said it'd be nice to have, but not at the expense of pocket play. It's quite similar to how he feels about 6'4 receivers and having separation skills.

lol

"months of interviews" ... I can't even remember the last interview Shanahan has done, maybe 2019 at the combine with Simms

but no he's had "months of interviews" discussing how he wants a QB who can run

haha
