Mac Jones-QB-Jaguars

[ Edited by Jcool on Apr 3, 2021 at 10:13 AM ]
Mac Jones would be such a cowardly move. A guy who would need an All Pro OL, elite WR and RB to produce. He could be as bad as Mike Glennon if the rest of the offense is not perfect, as good as Phillip Rivers if everything is perfect. We didn't see him face any kind of adversity really, he just took over the best college program with the most stacked offense possible. If Justin Fields was the starter for Alabama his numbers would've been absolutely ridiculous and would be a lock for #1 overall.

Are we able to have in person visits with these guys? Sure hope so.

All teams are prohibited from timing, testing, interviewing in-person or giving medical exams to any draft prospect outside of a school's pro day or an all-star game because of ongoing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic

Thanks! Ugh. What a time for having the #3 pick. I'm sure we'll have lots of time to focus.

Actually I think it benefits the 49ers at least on offense. Kyle doesn't need a lot of info to make some decent drafting decisions (or i should say) he's better at drafting offense vs many others in the NFL. This covid makes draft evaluating difficult which makes Kyle's genius an advantage here.
I'm glad 64% of the voters here are smart people with the "Do not want" option.

Then let's keep Jimmy

Too expensive. Right?

Not if you want to play in the super bowl in 2021.

Right...Apparently not even if they're keeping him this yr lol.

go pay for Dalton if you want a system QB. Go draft Mills

Well, let's wait and see who Kyle wants. Personally I like all three QBs being talked about. They all will be fine QBs as long as Kyle is coach. If Kyle can take an undrafted QB and beat Seadderall, hey you have to give him some credit for QB evaluating, coaching and development.

Head over to the QB Class 2021 thread and post 565.

Agree, and probably because Jimmy isn't the kind of athletic QB that would make scramble drills worthwhile to practice.

If Fields/Lance is the pick, Kyle will have to incorporate more scramble drill type offensive plays to take advantage of the QB's athleticism. Maybe even something designed like the Play Action Boot Pass where if Fields/Lance has pretty much play-faked the entire 11 man defense, he has the greenlight from Kyle to run to the end zone (or something like that).

The entire offense goes to other level with those guys. The run game would be nuts.

our RZ issues greatly improve. You got a man down on defense that has to spy. You get to dictate coverages, especially on 3rd down (you're not replaying man).

I mean just look at what QBs give kyle the most issues...why in the world would he not want that?

I dont know the actual reasons he may not currently want that. But maybe he likes what he likes? Again I don't know why he likes pocket QBs vs Mobile QBs seemingly at this point in time, but I agree it makes mores sense from my perspective to have that athletic dimension you say, as long as the QB intangibles aren't unduly sacrificed for athleticism.

I think its the intangibles that he's focusing on, and that I think is the main reason Bradys won so many Lombardies. As you said intsngibles are really hard to judge and evaluate, and stats and records aren't enough to make those kinds of judgments. Film helps, for sure, but even that isn't a guarantee that #3 pick going to be great in the intangibles department at the NFL level.

What i will say is that Kyle (at worst) will make the #3 pick good enough to not get fired. I think he's that good a coach. Specially if he can make a guy like Mullens a serviceable QB i think he can do anything.
I wanted Mac Jones at 12, since the others wouldn't be available at 12. But at 3? Nahhhh. No way. Give me Fields.

Doesn't matter to us anymore, but I doubt Mac Jones will be there at 12. If QBs get picked 1-4, Panthers will take him or someone will jump them. If not, someone (Bears/Pats/Saints/Steelers) is going to trade up and snag him. Everyone's making fun of McCorkle but he's gonna be a solid QB.

Mac had a better passer rating against pressure then both Fields and Lance. Fields passer rating against pressure was pretty bad actually. So what makes you think Mac needs an All pro OL to be successful and not fields?I like a lot about Fields and his abilities. But he was unable to beat out Jake Fromm at Georgia (which I believe he should have) and had to transfer. Honestly, I am not sure he even beats out Mac for the starting job at Alabama, let alone would put up better numbers then him in that system.

Lol. This is f**king madness. I like Riddick, but un this case he's an idiot. Usually. Seems like a good hot take troll job on this one. No f**king way this happens. Laughable statement by Louis.

However, in his defense, Mills probably puts up same numbers as Jones n Bamas offense.

If they want Mills, draft Pitts at 3 and Mills in R4.
Can you read? Riddick isn't saying take him at 3.

Good, then he's not an idiot. He isn't saying where to take him either.

He´s at least on Tua level for me as a prospect. Tua didn´t have an incredible arm either.
He is top heavy
If this thread gets to 500 pages by Draft day, the 49ers are drafting Mac Jones. Thems the rules.
